First, I'd like to know if rumors about tech 3 items are just rumors. I would not like to see this coming out. It'd just be like the tech 2 stuff. Tech 1 ships will be vastly overpowered and the prices for the basic tech 3 ship will be more expensive than the tech 2 frigate prices now.
I like it as it is now, tech 1 ship having the disadvantage but still able to take on tech 2 ships.
Lastly, I feel that CCP should make more ships that are Tech 1 and Tech 2. Not necessarily different bonuses and stuff but just having a different hull design. I would like to see some awesome looking ships. For instance, let's say Caldari gets another missile boat with the exact same stats as the Caracal but looks totally different. It'll give CCP an incentive to be creative without having to make a unique role for the ship or having to create an overpowered tech 3 ship. I don't see anything wrong with this idea except maybe the prices for the Caracal drops a bit.

I'll /sign this. It'll make it seem like there are more players around. Seeing the same ships over and over gets boring (plus the Raven is ugly as ****) --- Player Flown Fighters? Robot Arm |

Awesome!!! Exactly what I was thinking too about the Raven.
I was toying with the idea of being able to spray paint your ship however you want. But as cool as it sounds, I'd rather have a new hull design.

More tech I and II ship variety is always welcome. I think CCPs orignal goal with the techs was to go up to 5, but it seems reasonable that they would have changed their expectations when we consider the leap between techs 1-2.

Yes, I agree more Tech 1 ships is a nice idea. Also more faction crap would be nice as well.
And Raven fell off the lego tree and hit every angular branch on the way down, she also turns like a lardbucket.

i would LOVE to see a painting or hull modding feature added...just to make all the ravens in empire more interesting to look at...and eris can finally get her pink titan...O.o...
we need a dev's response on this to see whether it'll ever come into being

Tech 3 is in developement. I wouldnt expect it to come out soon though.
Supposedly Tech 3 are customized ships and weapons. For example, you make a custom Caracel that sacrifices armor for a shield hp bonus. Or a tachyon laser that takes less grid but shoots slower.
Id like more ship designs too, rather then simply reskined existing ships.
And the raven is cool, If you dont like aysmetric war machines then your not caldari! I think the raven looks like a slugger. Its not distracted by looking all pretty like gallente, its just there to lob missiles and blow stuff up. _______________________________________________ Deadspace For Dead space!

I've heard the same thing. It's not "better" it's different. Like t2 ammo is situational, tech 3 will be too. I really like that idea.

Aye.. making t3 as t2 is to t1, in other words simply better, would be terrible game design. It would simply mean t1 ships would become outdated and veterans would be turned into solo pwnmachines.
I however love the idea of t3 being more specialized, sacrificing some aspects to increase others.
Respect the Domi. Or else.

A ship I've always wanted to see in EVE is the monitor. Monitors as a naval class are little more than gun platforms. The British used them like artillery barges during the first half of the twentieth century. They're slow - barely capable of their own propulsion, really - and barely armored, but they are fitted with a gun battery usually reserved for a much larger ship. In EVE terms, it'd be like fitting a cruiser with a battleship gun. Thing's slow and pretty vunerably on it's own, but in a larger force - especially fleets that can't afford large numbers of capital ships or heavy battleships - it might be useful. Also in station seiges. You bring a handful of this relatively inexpensive (at least compaired to a battleship or dreadnaut) ships out and let them pound on the station for a while. Maybe set them so they can only fit two turrets or something, I'm not sure, but I like the idea. Gives more tactical options. ______________________________________________

sounds cool as long as it doesn't interrupts game balance :)

Alien artifacts? What the heck? Don't tell me that there will be aliens. Especially don't tell me we will be finding them in that empty space Southeast of Jove space. Bah!

No, there won't be aliens. I think T3 will be related to Hacking and Archeology. IOW, researching artifacts of long dead alien civilizations. -------------------- Do you have a solution to the BM and instas problem? Test it against the bookmark requirements. |

The Alien Technology could be technology from the time of the EVE-Gate colapse as well. You know, after a few thousand years, the EVE-universe still probably isn't even close to the level of technology that was brought through the gate.
Plus there's the Jove, and apparently that uber (lame) race that teleport around like Goku.

You know, there was a ship that was just a cruiser with a battleship gun on it, it was called..guess what.. a battlecruiser.
EVE developed the BC backwards. BC's in a naval sense are ships that have the firepower of larger ships, while still retaining the speed of the small cruiser class. Of course, they sacrificed armor for this speed. In EVE, BC's are tanking beasts that still only do about the same damage as a cruiser, but move a little slower.
But, back on topic... I'd like to see T3 ships are really role fitting ships. Like the recon/command/logistic ships of Tech2. I'd like to see something like a mobile moon harvestor, or a refinery ship. yeah..I'd definately like a refinery ship. A line of ships that could be used as an alternate form of stations. Except instead of being static, they can pick up and move whenever they want. Think the new Battlestar Galatica series. Except not. You'd have the ability to move around 0.0 space and provide all the comforts of a station to your fleet. Now, they have this in the mothership class vessels and the like, but I'd like smaller ships that fit specific roles. A maintenance ship, a refinery ship, etc.
But, that'll never happen, but it's wishful thinking.
