I have Athlon barton 3200+ Nvidia 5950u 1G 3200 ram 160gb hard drive
Every time i try to dual client, everything is fine if both characters are docked, but if one is in space, nevermind in combat, one of my client crashes, any advice on how to get it to run 2 clients? or is my system not good enough?
thanks in advance.

is the sound off in both games.
Are you runing each client from it's own installed directory.
Meaning one is installed in D:\Eve the other in D:\Eve2 these are the two main reasons.
Or it could be a hardware problem. you might want to look for a memory testing program, and check your ram to make sure it's 100%.

There's an old trick I know of, but whether or not it has been fixed by drivers or not, I cannot say for sure.
Open ONE client. In the ESC menu, head to the tab called Generic. Untick "Sun is occluded by ships". Close the client.
Start one up, undock, set auto-pilot for 3-4 high-sec spaces and turn it on while you boot the other client. Then roam around a bit and see if it works with flying, jumping, docking and all that...
If not, I don't know what to do...

I find turnng the sound off helps me dual account, but thb its far slower than it was after the last big patch - not sure what they did but dual accounting was DEFINITLY easyer before the patch, and stangely AFTER the power of two offer

running 3-4 clients simultanously, even with sun occluded on all..
works like a charm, but you might have to install the dual core driver update from amd
also, i have 4 seperate copies of the eve folder, each for another account... ----

Edited by: Cellphone on 24/04/2006 18:01:26 I am running: 4 gig ram 128mb Nvidia 6600GT 2x LCD screens different directory for each account(as in copy and paste the folder Eve, make Eve-2 and so forth) sound off all effects off(good for PvP) and make sure you donŠt see both clients at the same time as that causes FPS(frames per second) to go out of control on inferior computers lol If that all does not work you must have spyware, anti virus or something on... if you donŠt even use anti spyware get some because it fills up your PC pretty fast and causes lag

full screen will make you alittle slower but it can be done but sometimes it messes so much with processors and such that it causes crashes and what not

I run two clients and everything is fine unless I am in Hageken.
I did nothing but install the game once. I just open up the same client twice. I've had no real issues (except with sound and that usually disabled on one of the accounts ...if not both).
I've tried windows mode and full screen but prefer to just toggle between full screens.
I have seen the Arctic Circle... And it is round. |

I run all of mine with Occlusion turned on as well, which is why I am not sure about it being fixed or not. And all my accounts run from the same folder, without ANY problems... However, I run mine windowed, fullscreen might pose a problem...

2 clients running in windowed mode with the sound off, works fine for me and i'm hardly boasting a high end PC
AMD Sempron 3000 1GB DDR 333mhz Geforce 6600 LE
both clients run from the same directory.

Nearly the same as above poster PC wise, 1gig Ram, 2800 Xp athalon.. 6200 Geforce.. but I am on a 56k dial-up and can still run 2, in-space and moving/jumping
It is true you can run from the same folder, just make sure sound is off, but it is highly reccomended you copy your eve folder.
I have 3 Eve folders, for 2 accounts and 1 with test server patch. shortcuts to run each, and regularly clean the cache of each to improve performance..
Also always have sound off, or only on 1 client. www.AegisMilitia.com For God, Empire, and Sarum! |
