Dev response to what? It's called a Power Diagonstic System, the players all call it a PDU. What are you expecting CCP to say?

Who cares! It has been called a PDU on these forums for long enough that everyone uses it and understands it. Do you intend to waste everyones time on your next post about a HAC v HAS? or perhaps you will blow a gasket over a AF v AS? Get a life man No one can hear you scream in space, so just shut up and die already. |

Yeah, um that's obviously 100% wrong since noobs are asking what PDUs are in like 3 different threads per day.

Erm, we *have* gotten to the bottem of it. The skills to use PDU/PDS, RCUs and related modules specifically reffer to it as a Power Diagnostic Unit. As the skill is one of the first things people actually read (to be sure it actually affects the module they're trying to use), that's going to be the name that sticks.
Additionally, the fact that the skill itself reffers to them as PDUs indicates that the dev team actually has reffered to the module in question as PDUs.
The question has been solved. Give Tervaga his iskies, and we can be done with this silly debate.

That isn't the beta interface. Screenshot doesn't go back far enough. Go back much farther, when you could customize your ship default values.

The Power Diagnostic System is obviously one of a series of items known as Power Diagnostic Units.
There's nothing more to see here please move along.......

Were these skill descriptions not rewritten by Tripoli?
In which case they prove nothing as they have probably been changed within the last few months.
As far back as I can recall (before I started this character, technically my 'alt', but not to beta - maybe end of 1st month after launch) they have always been called power diagnostic systems. But equally everyone has always called them PDU (I even remember attempting to use the correct acronym a few times before deciding that PDU was better). Probably because we have RCU and calling something a unit just makes more sense. It's an extra fitting not a built in system.
Interesting times await... |

Judging by the amount of replies to this thread, quite a few people care ;-)
I don't recall it ever being called "Power Diagnostic UNIT" though.
