I was with Talktalk for 12 months from last March, first month was fine, and then I wasn't able to use p2p or anything game related without lag. After 12 months I had a hard time getting my MAC code until a stated some truths to the guy who kept mailing me. I got my MAC code first thing the next morning. Then they sent out the offer for free broadband lol. The part in their terms and conditions about this blocking is "we may use controls to preserve our network integrity". They just sent me another bill for this month and I changed last month. Dumbasses. Now I'm on Zen 8mb Active and all happy

Originally by: Lirael Voidwalker Dam, I am also having this trouble and have e-mailed tt about, I dont know if they are going to do anything, but I haven't been able to log onto eve for a week now and I am getting really annoyed. Are they just solving peoples cases individually or on their whole network.
Seems we are casulties or there war on p2p expendable is the word i would use.

Another thing, if you want to get out of their contract, download as much as you can from http protocol and anything from p2p from 1am onwards, they'll kick you for heavy usage so you don't have to pay the ú70 disconnection charge to get out of the contract.

man, i feel really sorry for you guys.
there are a few things you might want to do if your in a contract that they arn't living up to(when i got my ISP i stippulatted that i was mostly going to use the connection for online computer games, they know where they stand with me).
first one is; threaten them with legal action for breach of contract.
second one; freeze their ability to auto withdraw funds from your bank account. in some contries it is possible to back date this 3 months. not sure where you guys are though.
third one; give them a bad credit rating (they are crediting you with internet time, then failing to deliver).
fourth; if they start getting nasty, record everything. and hand copies over to the cops, if the cops do nothing the press can fry them even better(send anonymous letters to their largest clients and list all the faults).
keep the pressure on

Thanks Roddic talktalk ISP is UK based I think ive got my solution: extreme i know, ive arranged for another phone line to be connected to the house, get another isp up and running on the new line (number) cancel the old line and screew talktalk should get me up and running and not get any talktalk crap holding back MAC codes and stuff after useing BroadBand for around 4 years since december then with BT, they banned me right on the xmas hols and I never stopped ringing there tech support id agreed to there top package even to the extent at paying ú1 a gig over useage i was banned till jan-3rd when a guy came back off hols just couldent appologise enough tried to make convince us to stop with them but the harm had been done, I went with talktalk (what a chup) it took them from the 6/1/06 till the middile of march to get me connected then 21st of April here i am again so 6 weeks BB in over 4 month isnt good hence the extreeme measures
I dont talk much I listen quite a lot: hate multi-tasking

Hey guys, me again. When I had this problem as I said above (posted as character turtlehead) I used the E-Mail link of carphone warehouse website to email the CEO charles dunstone. A guy called David Peel emaile me back saying I couldn't get the MAC code any quicker due to "procedures that are in place" So I stated to him about the contract changes, basically what I knew etc and after the weekend first thing monday morning I had an email telling me my MAC code. Now I've cancelled the direct debit they tried sending me a bill for this month! Ha, anyway, heres the address, hope it helps some people.

As I have said, I rang them a week ago and a guy rang back ten minutes later to say I shouldn't have anymore problems....and I don't, EvE is running sweeter than ever, It is just down to luck that you get someone who knows the score when you ring so keep trying and eventually you shouldbe sorted, I work for the company but did not mention this to the guy untill after he fixed my line............

I have managed to keep steam working (so I am not going to go completely insane) but I find that it takes ages to load up sometimes, I double click the icon, nothing happens and then it pops up half an hour later while I am doing something else.

goto www.adslguide.org and check out a proper ISP that does not block p2p or games, plenty of them around. My sister was on about TT, will have to recommend not touching it at all as she is clueless about PC's |

I got a rely from my email,
I did ask about Eve online and p2p, but thay only answered about the p2p.
Quote: One of the Terms and Conditions within in our new broadband offer is that we have a fair usage policy in regards to download limit. Although we offer a 40GB limit we have at peak time restriction on peer2peer downloading due to the huge amount of data that it consumes. There is no fix in place for this as it is not seen as a fault.
You will not be able to use any programme that uses P2P during the restrictions.
Time for another e-mail just about EVE then

Got a reply from the support ppl and got this
"If you know someone personally that is playing the game, then ask him if he can send you a copy of his Machonet folder which is located in the cache. Replace that with your current folder and try to login again."
If it doesn't work i have to send mine to them so they can give it to the devs, but looking on the blog, looks like its a common thing atm, i.e. disconnections etc. So if the machonet does solve it, we might have a chance, if not im stuffed

Found This On Their Site
Our fair use policy restricts this high bandwidth activity in peak hours to allow the majority of customers to use their broadband connection for normal residential usage i.e. surfing, email, online gaming etc. This allows us to give you a high quality service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. faironline gaming

I actually got a much nicer reply, apperently they've installed a new firewall which has inadvertantly blocked some ports at certian times.
What is the port that eve-online uses so I can tell them which one to unblock?

Well most games run on the 26000-28000 range
If Need be give them the foram link to this page to show them how ****ed off we are lol
seems the WOW players have a fix off sorts ring there premium rate number beg and pleed for them to unblock the port WOW uses could work for EVE too but i refuse to ring there tech support on 50p a minite when its not a tech problem they restricted certain ports because they are used for p2p and never gave a **** what games used them. all to free bandwidth for the free broadband thats how i see it. check the link below they have more info on the matter. ive followed there progress or lack of it, seems theres a advisor of sorts plays WOW and is sorting things out for them. says hes a avid player and loves it pity he didnt sort things out 2 weeks ago assumming he uses TT BB he realy couldent miss pings of 6000, I say smoothing things over would be more precise.
