seems like TT have diabled all ports that allow eve to conenct, as its similar to P2P
even though they say gaming is allowed on their network
so, who else is on talktalk and has the problem of unable to conenct?

I'm on TalkTalk and have been unable to connect for the last few days. I've just been on the phone to their tech department after CCP assured me it was an ISP problem and there's nothing CCP can do about it.
TalkTalk said they will get back to me in the next 48 hours. Apparantly they've had people who play WoW complaining about connection issues too.

Anyone know if NTL have decided to start blocking certain ports in their recent "maintenance" earlier this week?

I was on Talk Talk about a year ago. Had the same problem and after endless letters and discussions in which different departments let slip more and more info gradually I gathered that they intentionally disabled peer v peer traffic they didnt like (including EvE) every afternoon 6pm - 01:00 GMT.
I broke my contract and run.

After getting hung up on and then told that I would have to ring the 50p per minute helpline from home, I think I will be moving away too, and I work for the sodding company ! !
I am giving them one last chance tonight to get it sorted out, wouldn't mind but I cant get the ****in stuff free where I am anyways and I dont mind paying5 quid more to get somewhere else if it works............

Its the files within the machonet folder that the TalkTalk router is rejecting. Those files within machonet are renewed after every downtime so I've petitioned CCP to make them downloadable from this website after every d/t.
Although its a crude work-around, at least those on TalkTalk will be able to log-in to skill change. However, the lag is extreme, making anything else impossible.
If TT don't get back to me in the next 48 hours I too will be changing ISP

Dodged a bullet here then, was thinking of switching from BT Yahoo to talk talk, but:
1. the free broadband offer isnt available in my area (nothing new)
2. These problems now raise eyebrows to saying "yes we give u free broadband, but we will tell you what you can do online"
Sortta like "In Soviet Russia, Car drives you!"

Right guys, everyone who logged the problem with Talk Talk Broadband should be able to connect now, and If not, soon, they have said that it is a game problem and after the last update part of the code in eve was changed and unfortunatly this means to TT computers it looks like EvE is a fileshare program, the workaround they have organized is that until CCP patch the problem (TT have spoken to them apparently)anyone suffering will get the P2P limit lifted temporarily, this does not mean that you can start downloading those movies you wanted coz if this is detected there will be worse consiquences than just not being able to play EvE......
I have just come offline after 30 mins uninterupted, lag-free, playing. Only 30 mins coz its late and time for bed, I am actually quite happy with the time it took them to rectifie this, not bad considering they also have 1 million new customers to switch on in the next month or so......

Ah, that would explain why i'm having so many problems at home, and yet i can connect and play lag free at work.
Just calling them now, i'll let you know what they say. Does anyone know what CCP are doing to help this, it must be affecting alot more than just Talk Talk customers!

Ok, just spoke with Talk Talk, as soon as I mentioned the game the Tech support guy knew what I was going to say, they are aware of the problem and apparently have a team trying to fix it along with CCP. They might add a comment to the talk talk website (yeah right). Until that happens, were stuck with it.
At least we know what the problem is now.

If you can change IP do it. My point of view is if I am paying for access to Net I don't want someone else to tell me what programs I can't use. Check if you signed that they can cut off some kinds of transmissions - if not demand unblocking of ports.
My provider did the same until I stated that they have no rights to block my traffic. Not that I download lots of stuff through P2P but I had a lot of problems with EVE and TeamSpeak because of those blockades.
Demand full, unrestricted access to Internet. Or change operator if you can.

Its a miracle, ITS ALIVE..........ITS ALLIIIIVVVEEEEE!!!!!! One last ditch attempt at getting the game sorted and its working, seems some guys at the TT technical centre have a clue while most have no idea, I spoke to a 'Ken' and he said he would ring me back in 10 minutes, he did, he told me to restart my router(just disconnect and reconnect for normal modem users) after he did some fidling at his end and now it works
So they can fix it just to let you know........

I called again this morning and no one seems to know about this miracle cure, or anyone called Ken, I pointed the Tech support guy towards this forum post, and hopefully he called back 10 minutes later to say the problem has been passed to their 2nd and 3rd line tech team.
If anyone knows KEN, can they get him to post on here.
I'm now stuck on restarting my router every now and then to see if the problem has been resolved!

I was with Talktalk for 12 months from last March, first month was fine, and then I wasn't able to use p2p or anything game related without lag. After 12 months I had a hard time getting my MAC code until a stated some truths to the guy who kept mailing me. I got my MAC code first thing the next morning. Then they sent out the offer for free broadband lol. The part in their terms and conditions about this blocking is "we may use controls to preserve our network integrity". They just sent me another bill for this month and I changed last month. Dumbasses. Now I'm on Zen 8mb Active and all happy

Another thing, if you want to get out of their contract, download as much as you can from http protocol and anything from p2p from 1am onwards, they'll kick you for heavy usage so you don't have to pay the ú70 disconnection charge to get out of the contract.

man, i feel really sorry for you guys.
there are a few things you might want to do if your in a contract that they arn't living up to(when i got my ISP i stippulatted that i was mostly going to use the connection for online computer games, they know where they stand with me).
first one is; threaten them with legal action for breach of contract.
second one; freeze their ability to auto withdraw funds from your bank account. in some contries it is possible to back date this 3 months. not sure where you guys are though.
third one; give them a bad credit rating (they are crediting you with internet time, then failing to deliver).
fourth; if they start getting nasty, record everything. and hand copies over to the cops, if the cops do nothing the press can fry them even better(send anonymous letters to their largest clients and list all the faults).
keep the pressure on

Thanks Roddic talktalk ISP is UK based I think ive got my solution: extreme i know, ive arranged for another phone line to be connected to the house, get another isp up and running on the new line (number) cancel the old line and screew talktalk should get me up and running and not get any talktalk crap holding back MAC codes and stuff after useing BroadBand for around 4 years since december then with BT, they banned me right on the xmas hols and I never stopped ringing there tech support id agreed to there top package even to the extent at paying ú1 a gig over useage i was banned till jan-3rd when a guy came back off hols just couldent appologise enough tried to make convince us to stop with them but the harm had been done, I went with talktalk (what a chup) it took them from the 6/1/06 till the middile of march to get me connected then 21st of April here i am again so 6 weeks BB in over 4 month isnt good hence the extreeme measures
I dont talk much I listen quite a lot: hate multi-tasking

Hey guys, me again. When I had this problem as I said above (posted as character turtlehead) I used the E-Mail link of carphone warehouse website to email the CEO charles dunstone. A guy called David Peel emaile me back saying I couldn't get the MAC code any quicker due to "procedures that are in place" So I stated to him about the contract changes, basically what I knew etc and after the weekend first thing monday morning I had an email telling me my MAC code. Now I've cancelled the direct debit they tried sending me a bill for this month! Ha, anyway, heres the address, hope it helps some people.

I got a rely from my email,
I did ask about Eve online and p2p, but thay only answered about the p2p.
Quote: One of the Terms and Conditions within in our new broadband offer is that we have a fair usage policy in regards to download limit. Although we offer a 40GB limit we have at peak time restriction on peer2peer downloading due to the huge amount of data that it consumes. There is no fix in place for this as it is not seen as a fault.
You will not be able to use any programme that uses P2P during the restrictions.
Time for another e-mail just about EVE then

Got a reply from the support ppl and got this
"If you know someone personally that is playing the game, then ask him if he can send you a copy of his Machonet folder which is located in the cache. Replace that with your current folder and try to login again."
If it doesn't work i have to send mine to them so they can give it to the devs, but looking on the blog, looks like its a common thing atm, i.e. disconnections etc. So if the machonet does solve it, we might have a chance, if not im stuffed

Our fair use policy restricts this high bandwidth activity in peak hours to allow the majority of customers to use their broadband connection for normal residential usage i.e. surfing, email, online gaming etc. This allows us to give you a high quality service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. faironline gaming

Well most games run on the 26000-28000 range
If Need be give them the foram link to this page to show them how ****ed off we are lol
seems the WOW players have a fix off sorts ring there premium rate number beg and pleed for them to unblock the port WOW uses could work for EVE too but i refuse to ring there tech support on 50p a minite when its not a tech problem they restricted certain ports because they are used for p2p and never gave a **** what games used them. all to free bandwidth for the free broadband thats how i see it. check the link below they have more info on the matter. ive followed there progress or lack of it, seems theres a advisor of sorts plays WOW and is sorting things out for them. says hes a avid player and loves it pity he didnt sort things out 2 weeks ago assumming he uses TT BB he realy couldent miss pings of 6000, I say smoothing things over would be more precise.

FYI - up until around 10months ago TT BB was working fine with Eve.
Then they got so many customers, their infrastructure couldn't cope. To make it look to the majority of their users (dumb web surfers and e-mailers) they started "port throttling" between "peak" hours.
I eventually bought myself out of the contract although I really wanted to take them to court for advertising fraud!
I don't us P2P and EvE can hardly be accused of using a high bandwidth.
Personally I wouldn't **** on them if they were on fire now. I'll never use Carphone warehouse or talktalk phone service ever agin, nor would I recommend them to anyone.
BT might be a big unresponsive lump of a company but they are 10 times better than TalkTalk.

Hi I feel the same way about TT and so do others there is a small group of people taking them hopfully to court for the reason you gave above false advertising unlimited means UNLIMITED. I just want out ATM and say good riddance new line friday comming new isp thats the lengths im going too because waiting for my mac-code could take for ever. and they can whistle for there ú70.00 ill see them in court first i and the wife have spent around 5 hours in ques over the phone waiting for a answer and been hungup on 4 times, that dont include thinking on the 21st april i had problems my end so reinstalled windows and the game and router twice another good few hours wasted before they restricted these ports they could have sent each and every coustmer a letter with there intentions and explained if you use these ports for gamming ring xxxxxxxxxxx for a solution now thats costumer support but hey its TT we are talking about.seems your time isnt important theres is. soz if i go on all i can do is forum ***** ATM

Yea I have been able to get on at those times but then shortly after eve just dies and disconnects as the lag gets v.bad. It seems their p2p blocking takes a while to come into affect.

After 20 minutes on hold I gave up, but this is also affecting downloads, I deleted TS case i thought that could be cuasing my eve problems and just tried to redownload it.
its currently downloading at 0.5kb last time from my logs it only took 2 minutes now it's an hour and a half.
Hopefully when they get the email reply they'll remove the block on port 26000 and eve will work but that won't solve downloads etc.
Why do they even need to restrict the bandwidth in my case i'm the only person in the whole exchange on talktalk, its not like i'll slow anyones connection by dowloading stuff.

Yer, they believe that everything slows things down, the idea is that it stops ppl going over the new 8mb deal with 40 gb dl limit.
Hopefully, they release the block on port 26000 on all of us knowing them it might be just you

I don't play WoW just EvE and 2. It has been working fine for 2 weeks since TT opened up the relavant ports for me :D This guy really had no Idea but it was nice to recieve a call from them anyway . . .

This is just getting out of hand now. I emailed this guy who works for talktalk that I saw on the WOW forums, and I was amazed to find that i was actually playing EVE at 5.00pm yesterday, I was amazed, admitadly it did drop out every so often, but I was blaming that on server lag.
But today the problem has come back and I am even more ****ed off, as I only got a glimpse of a play

Yep thats when their p2p blocking isnt active, its also how I play nowadays unfortuantley, I have been reduced to going to bed a 10.00 and getting up at 4.00am to play eve for a bit.

I have been wary of these 'free' offers ever since the 'ScreamingNet/LocalTel' problems in the UK, it took legal threats to finally get away from them.
Now I'm with Demon, I get 24hrs tech support, the staff know what they are doing and no ports appear to be blocked. One of the first things I asked when I moved to them was if they block ANY sites/ports as I refuse to pay to be censored by someone elses moral choices.

Even though I said it was working for me it is appaulingly slow and frequent dropouts, looks like my latency is also through the roof and I am also getting a hell of a lot of packet loss. It still runs a lot better between 12;30 and 8 when their p2p blocking is off completely.

Hey guys, Ive been with TT since febuary... i cant log in to eve either... cant update steam...
its very frustrating, ive been all morning today in the CPW talking to the guy there, shouting at a lady on the phone (poor gal lol) i ran out of arguments, we were just going in circles, she wouldnt back down.. im now writing an email with links to those of you who have been helped by this miracle worker "ken" The guy in the shop was really helpful and is gonna try and sort us out... another thing to help you guys out might be that the stores have had an email about the problem.. part of it reading "customers should phone technical support and we will sort it out on an individual solution to allow them to get back to gaming" Thats not the exact words cause he couldnt forward me the email but that was near enough, it said they would sort it out anyway... feeling very angry with TT atm, i like the idea of using excessive downloads at night to get out of the contract.. if they wont sort it out im going to do that!
the lady on the phone was even complaining about me using 200mb since the 6th!!!! WTH!?!? 200mb in 5 days.. i wonder if she knew what a MB was??!? ------------------------ Long standing protestor against cruelty to intersteller cows!
