Capsuleers,
As some of you may know, a gathering is held to remember/celebrate the battle of Caldari Prime/Operation Highlander.
I've been contemplating contributing my experience in formation flight to the squad performing the missing man formation at this gathering, in part to promote this practice, but I have some doubts if I feel comfortable doing so, and if it would be looked upon favourably by you, especially those of you serving in the militias.
What do you think of the nature and activities at this gathering? If you do not agree with the nature of this gathering and (some of) the other activities there, are you okay with capsuleers participating/observing in the missing man formation? Do you think there should be restrictions on what the missing man formation should be like in order to properly honour the fallen, like ship types used, capsuleers performing the formation, etc? Attempting to achieve a consensus on attendance, formations, and the like will not be successful. People will show and participate if they want to and how they want to. -á |

I think its a nice idea Che!
Although what about the missing women lost int the battle?
I think you should have a male and a female pilot peel off when the missing formation spaces are created. |

Sir... The formation and tradition are meant to honor the fallen, not cater to the whims of every capsuleer who wants their own private touch. Fly the formation as it always has been flown, and know that the gesture itself is what matters. |

I would personally prefer it was flown by veterans of the battle, myself - but as many of them are militia pilots and therefore persona non grata in Luminaire it may not be possible. |

I think blowing up some gallentean navy, who attacks Caldari there (or even some gallentean capsuleers) is a good way to honor those, who died from gallentean hands there, defending our home. |

This is true, but the sheer volume of her posts that you no longer see is noticeable when absent. People only respond to her when they are bored - a significant amount of her nonsense just glides by when blocked. It isn't perfect, but it is certainly effective enough to be noticeable. -á |

While she is hardly worth the effort to even mock, you could turn it into an amusing game if you wanted to. Mock her without seeing the responses, then try to guess what the responses are without seeing them.
Edit: On second thought, that game would be far too easy. Definitely not worth mocking. -á |

By blowing up Diana Kim. Instead we should hold a ceremony in which we symbolically bring an end to traitors and those, who wishes the State to be weak and subjugated to gallentean subhumans...

Welcome to the conclusion I've long since come to. As for miss Lagaan's assertion, it's hardly necessary to remove more than her channel to get immediate and profound results. Sure, secondhand posts still crop up, but who cares? Thats a sentence here and there as opposed to the said-a-million-times-already, unchanging litany of stupidity and delusion that otherwise clogs entire threads. Nobody is required to subject themselves to it, and the sad truth is that if that simple act became widespread, she would become irrelevant, overnight. |

You, Ninavask, are welcome back to Reynire any time in your covert ops frigate. Just let me know ahead of time so we can arrange a smartbomb battleship wing to greet you. This event has nothing to do with my people. And for the record on that day I fought on the side of the State in defending the Leviathan from Gallente and Capsuleer aggression. |

To get this thread back in line, the Missing man formations are a part of the events that will occur at the first year anniversary of The Battle for Caldari Prime, to honor the fallen.
From the many replies here, I see some have trouble seeing why Gallente or Caldari should celebrate, let alone, do it together.
The article 'Preparations for the first year anniversary of the Battle for Caldari Prime' aims to remedy that, by explaining why both sides can celebrate the outcome of this battle, and even why they can do it together.
It's one of the rare conflicts where both sides got what they wanted, Caldari Prime remains Caldari and Luminaire space remains Gallente, signed in a historic treaty by both sides.
My view on the Missing Man formations is that the intent is what matters, albeit I would avoid any criminal elements in partaking in this Formation flight, as to nullify any controverse that could arise from this. -áPreparations for the first year anniversary of the Battle for Caldari Prime Shrouded in mystery, the Jovian race |
