Some plot holes and a few wtf moments in the visuals of the fight at the end but no more than appleseed has.
nothing tbh is as corny as the PW on the fortress moment in appleseed.

Its not ment to be realistic, the story isn't set even in our time maybe even not our planet if I remember correctly.
I thought the movie was awsome graphicaly and a very enjoyable movie personaly.

interesting Tidbit, if you look carfully in one scene of the movie you see a Barrel outside a shop that says "7th Heaven". guess it wasnt totally flattened.

i read in a PsP mag that there may be a online download of the origonal FF7 [download onto your memory card] for a price.
And if you get the DVD of the finalfantasy movie it has some previews concerning this area.

I havent played ff7, its on my list of things to do and if they remade it it would force my hand
Thinking about getting a ps1 during the summer just for it

FF7 has the best plot to it but its not just the plot its how the game adds the mini games and storys. Also there was so much MATERIA in game the options were many [Materia is a magic gem you fit to cast a spell from] my favourate one is the one that lets you do 2 attacks at once instead of one per turn with a single charecter.
And i have to admit that tho main bad guy sethy  Is one of the best bad guys around.
So is it worth buying a PS 1 just to play it... yes it is.

Advent Children = more fanservice tbh. Fun for sure, but not really earthshattering.
Still LOVE the cameo of Aerith/Aeris (stop the arguement over her name plskthx). I still hate Square's guts for killing her off in FF7. One of the WORST decisions ever. Nearly made me stop playing FF games afterwards.   yeah I'm a weakling...

I have to agree and disagree with many of the points here.
The movie had absolutely gorgeous visuals. It is impossible for anyone to refute that.
The Japanese yet again prove to the world that they are the masters of visual magics.
In regards to the story. Well it was always going to fall flat on its face. For a whole multitude of reasons.
a)In my mind FF7 ended with the game. At the end everyone died it was the perfect ending. Holy fought meteor and chose the fate of the world. It decided people weren't worthy and finished everyone off.
Changing this to incorporate another story wouldnt work for me.
b)The game had many many hours of story which pulled you around constantly. It was very involving and quite frankly really f***in amazing. No 90minute movie no matter how expertly realized could match this. Add to that the expectation and hype and it doesnt stand a chance.
I didnt think the story was that good either to be honest but it didnt stop me from enjoying this movie. It may be that from a illustrator and 3d background i look at it differently. The scene were cloud is thrown into the air is a big off put for some people, but i felt a shiver of pure enjoyment run down my spine when he emerged and ran up his back. Fantastic.
For people who thought the various fight scenes etc were ridiculous. Come on it's FF - suns explode, comets rain from the sky. All manners of weird and quite frankly ubsurd crap pours out of this game.
The only pet hate i had with it was the lack of materia. It was one of the major parts of the game yet it was used very infrequently within the movie. I would have loved to see Fire3, Ultima, Flare, Gravity. I know that it would be ridiculous if they took it to far and had them lined up and attacking with an ATB as the game did. But a few more pieces of the FF7 world wouldnt have harmed them.

Yea true Holy came too late by the time it was invoked it was too late so the lifestream had to save the day.
As for the lifestream killing everyone it didnt as you could see in the movie and dont argue differently the people who wrote the origonal story also wrote the story for the movie.
As for graphics they werre top notch.
As for the story it was not good and some parts were embarising to watch. Saying that tho the movie evokeds some emotion and good memories of the origonal game.
My greatest reget tho is losing the game 7 years ago, ive looked forever since them and have never found a copy saying that tho if anyone could direct me to one that works with windows Xp id be willing to pay you for it. [starts praying]

I don't hate Advent Children,I hate Cloud in all way shapes or forms,he is the epitome of the Emo sub culture and thus is my sworn enemy,hence I support the crazy meglomaniacal Seph in his quest to kill off the emo people of his world,to you Seph my hat is tipped.
DS its a Fantasy movie based off a fantasy game so asking for realism is like asking for Santa Claus to have a grey salt and peppered beard instead of a white one for the sake of realism. It makes no sense.
Thirdly the "plot" of Advent Children is filler put into basically fill in the times between the kick ass action scenes. The true plot of the whole movie is to answer one simple question that all FF nut cases have asked, "Who would win if Cloud didn't have Omnislash", the answer is Sephiroth,why cuz he is A.) not emo,B.) the better swordsman and alot faster and C.) Cuz he is evil and will fight dirty,Cloud is good and fights fair thus he loses end of story.
Tho as displayed with the ending of Advent Children,Cloud does have omnislash so hence he wins,but if he didn't it would have been game over for the spikey haired punk wannabe.

Not really. "Realism" is necessary only up to the point where the combat pleases the eyes.
When the "combat" happens so fast and in such a silly fashion that you want to laugh out loud during the movie, its not fantasy, its just stupid. And agreed about the whole emo thing--we don't need any more emo main characters. Whether its Frodo, Harry Potter, Edward Elric, or Anakin Skywalker, they're all bad.

emo is a style of music that was so supposed to be a mix of punk and folk.
The emo life style is typified as being over self reflective to the point of causing depression this also is mixed with the exploration of ones artistic abilities through song writing,poetry,writing and an obsesion with the noir film style.
Emo people are usually the type to blame mommy and daddy for their issuses in life and consistently focus on their own problematic life to a point they blow it way out of proportion.They also have issuses with rejection this is usually reflected in their writings. Emo people also lack self confidence due to their inate,over empasised fear of rejection. Which causes them to write songs and bad poetry about how their lovers dumped them for a guy who had purpose and drive to go somewhere with his life.
Ultimately Emo people are in my opinion one of the lowest forms of life known to man and should be persecuted without remorse since they contribute nothing to the betterment of human society and focus on only their own petty issuses without regard for those truely suffering in the world. If you want something to cry about go live in Sudan for a year.

First, I found the combat easy enought to follow, but I geuss that just depends on the person watching it (no slur intended)
Second: Emo protagonists are bad, but most of the time the intention is to make the charecters seem more human

Plot sucks. Graphics and fights cool. Flashy, good lighting effects, cool spiffeh sword tricks, some stuff nostalgic from the game.
Overall, the kind of movie you stare at and go "ooh shiny" at. Not too shabby on the whole so long as you understand it as nothing more than a flashy exposee of Squaresoft's anmiation skillz. Now, when gameplay graphics get that good...
