I loathe it. Do you have any idea what a nightmare it is to grow up in italy and not like football?
Imagine living somewhere where *ALL* people *EVER* talk about is world of warcraft, 24/7.
And in their free time, they watch people play world of warcraft, or they watch people talk about the people who play world of warcraft, or discuss their personal lives, and spend hours making inane comments about their in-game actions on prime-time televion.
And then, they will talk about how even though theyre not any good whatsoever at it themselves, they could have so obviously co-ordinated the group better. 
Now make it 10x dumber, and add a britney spears soundtrack.
I only ever watch it for the world cup, and even then only to see france lose. 
My dad thinks we should just make it illegal for 2 years and then start over... its one of the few things we've ever agreed on 
I mean, I like cricket more, and ive no idea of what the rules in that actually are.

Football ftw. The only problem with the WC is that most group games are a smaller(weaker) team against a super power of football, makes for a poor game with 1 team defending and not even trying to score. as for the poor Italian, i feel sorry for you bud. :) But imagine how it feels to be Scottish, at least your countries team wins games. No wonder we drink.

LIST OF RULES FOR WOMEN DURING WORLD CUP 2006.
1. From 9 June to 9 July 2006, you should read the sports section of the
newspaper so that you are aware of what is going on regarding the World
Cup, and that way you will be able to join in the conversations.
If you fail to do this, then you will be either looked at in an
extremely hostile way, or totally ignored. DO NOT complain about not
receiving any attention.
2. During the World Cup, the television is mine, at all times, without
any exceptions. If your eye even falls on the remote control, you will
lose it (your eye).
3. If you have to pass by in front of the TV during a game, I don't
mind, as long as you do it crawling on the floor and without distracting
me. If you decide to stand nude in front of the TV, make sure you put
clothes on right afterwards, because during the World Cup month I won't
have time to take you to the doctor or look after you if you catch a
cold.
4. During the games I will be blind, deaf and mute, unless I require a
refill of my drink or something to eat. You are out of your mind if you
expect me to listen to you, open the door, answer the telephone, or pick
up the baby that just fell from the second floor....it won't happen.
5. It would be a good idea for you to keep at least 2 six-packs in the
fridge at all times, as well as plenty of things to nibble on, and
please do not make any funny faces to my friends when they come over to
watch the games. In return, you will be allowed to use the TV between
12am and 6am, unless they replay a good game that I missed during the
day.
6. If you see me upset because one of my teams is losing, DO NOT say
"Get over it, it's only a game", or "Don't worry, they'll win next
time". If you say these things, you will only make me angrier and I
shall love you less. Remember, you will never ever know more about
football than me, and your so-called "words of encouragement" will only
lead to a break up or divorce.
7. You are welcome to sit with me to watch one game, and you can talk
to me during half time, but only when the commercials are on, and only
if the half time score is pleasing me. In addition, please note I am
saying "one" game: hence do not use the World Cup as a cheesy excuse to
"spend time together".
8. The replays of the goals are very important. I don't care if I have
seen them or I haven't seen them, I want to see them again. Many times.
9. Tell your friends NOT to have any babies, or any other child-related
parties or gatherings that require my attendance because:
a) I will not go, b) I will not go, and c) I will not go.
10. But, if a friend of mine invites us to his house on a Sunday to
watch a game, we will be there in a flash.
11. The daily World Cup highlights show on TV every night is just as
important as the games themselves. Do not even think about saying "but
you have already seen this...why don't you change the channel to
something we can all watch?" The reply will be: "Refer to Rule #2 of
this list".
12. And finally, please save your expressions such as "Thank God the
World Cup is only every 4 years". Remember that after this comes the
Champions League, Italian League, Spanish League, Premier League, etc
etc.

Never liked football but the boyfriend has dragged me to the pub every weekend to watch it. So going to Italy for a few of the games to watch the cup on tv and do a italian pub crawl

yeah im loving the WC and EC, but im from Holland. We have the best supporters out there, and you can't hide here in holland for the football terror. But im looking forward to it, great times ahead.

Bull**** almost ALL(!) teams in the WC are really well prepared and every can win /lose to everyone ( note greece @ euro 2k4)

Aye, right!!! So you will be betting on Trinidad and Tobaggo then??? as for greece, WTF have they done since, NOTHING!!!! There is no way to legislate for extreme good luck but in football 9/10 the better team will win, tho odd occasion a boring draw, but very few times will you see a real upset.
I agree teams are more organised, but by organised you mean 10 men behind the ball in damage limitation playing out dull 0-0 draws. This cup will be no different. ! of the big guns will win it. Hopefully Brazil(attacking play ftw) but the odds are against a South American team when the WC is being held in Europe.

Irish fans are the best and that is official. They wear Green, drink a lot and outsing everyone - even the orange wearing Dutch - just a pity we didn't qualify

I've booked off work every possible day england may play - group, last 16, qtr finals, both semis and final.
Just need to order my skyHD box, and buy a few hundred beers (and accompanying chilli doritos, oh yes).

I personaly can't stand soccer It's slow paced, low scoring boredom with short European men running around in neon shortpants.
Other than that. I realy would not watch it to begin with since America's team sucks. Most people in this country quit playing soccer at the age of 12 and move on to other sports such as Football, and Baseball.
Realy though, I don't understand why I bother to watch baseball anymore since im a Cubs fan and am a vocal opponent to Dusty Baker and I want his head on a pike.
Now that ive ranted for a bit. I suppose I need a new sport that can keep me interested with a local team that can win a championship or something.
