Originally by: King Leia I dont get it. earlier( like a year ago), obvious problems got fixed rather quickly. I dont mean balancing problems but obvious flaws in the code. Customers have have been raising issues (again not balacing but code flaws) for at least half a year and in many instances longer. We get told (on rare occasions when a dev ventures into a thread) that yah its so simple, we know its a problem, and we are working on it. Yet three months later or six, nothing
Just a couple of examples. Force reson. Not able to fit both cynos field gen and cloack. Advanced drone interfacing, what are you going to with it?.
What about the dev blogs, almost nothing in the last 2-3 months. Yah sure the occasional im sorry for being absent, but what can the players use that for. What i think is that CCP is putting all of their effort into the China cluster, and leaving all the old customers on hold. And i understand that it is important for CCP, but comeon, dont alleinate your true believers.
Signers are very welcome
Your probobly right about them focusing on the China cluster and probobly the Kali Expansion but the game is like 95% bug free. I've been playing for like 2 months now and I've never even encountered a single bug. I don't expect a game to be perfect but most of the issue you described aren't game breaking problems that affect very few people. Fixes like your describing are probobly very low priority.

No, the Chinese EVE Community is not the sole reason for the delay, just one of many. As I stated in my initial post, I know of at least 4 Devs that are working on the EVE E3 trailer, more that are working on the graphics changes and preview for E3, and a number of other projects that are taking up resources. Kali is under development and taking up the rest of the content and programming teams.
The Server team has been the hardest hit as they have had to maintain TQ, Sisi, and Chaos, in addition to pulling duty working on Serenity's deployment.
As I said, busy times for us, but the end is in sight. Serenity looks to be on track to go live in late summer, E3 is a short few weeks away, Singularity is going back to the TQ code base in the next few days and Kali is coming, SoonÖ.
what is this this Serenity project or server being released in the summer? Is CCP breaking down and sharding??? I have been out of the loop for almost 8months as i quit and i literaly just came back yesterday to scout the game for possible improvements to see if its worth my time again..
Is there a blog or something i can read on these projects mentioned above? I did a search and for some reason not much comes up. ===========================================================

Yeah, because hiring MORE staff automatically equals better quality.
No wait....
Stop being an idiot, Maya, to get the kind of staff that CCP want and we, teh community, EXPECT, isn't a matter of "omg hire someone from the job center". One bad employee can cause more problems than anything you can ever imagine.
That's something that not only eve ceos' know, it's also true in real life - but as you've never run anything but other than to the toilet, I guess you wouldn't know?

Edited by: Vaugue on 28/04/2006 18:26:54 thanks much for that link.. i feel.. informed now
As for the above post.. if you read the second to last paragraph in that handy blog i was linked too.. it mentions that CCP has in fact doubled it's staff over the last year. Wether that is good or bad or even noticable I'll let you decide as I have not been here and am just scouting with a 1 month renewal to see if the game has anything new to entice me back into it.. just thought i would share my new found information ===========================================================

Because a labour shortage really helps, right. I don't believe CCP have had much problem recruiting for the posts they have had open. And there is NOT a shortage of labour in the games industry.

psh i dont think were really in a position to judge how CCP handles hiring/firing staff.
honestly i think CCP could do a lot worse then it is. the MMO i came from is a good example- maple story. no updates for literally a year, hacking is rampant and always has been, the company(wizet/nexon) lied to us about what would happen to our beta accounts, and too many people get banned nowadays for no reason. They also make you pay through the nose and the company NEVER talks to the players about what is going on, except in extremely rare instances spread several months apart.
i could go on and on about it, but to put it short: if every other game company in the world emulated ccp, the world would be a better place

Not to point out the obvious, but I don't recall seeing CCP tell us anywhere that they are a charitable organization. They will do what they need to do to make $$$ and that's that. Don't mind me... I'm just a pigment of your imagination. |

Yes and that game was a shining example of a bug-free game. Nope no bugs AT ALL in that game. A surefire poster child for good code RIGHT THERE.

CCP could honestly do alot less and just treat us like numbers, but they don't and they invite us to their home party with us. come to our home and party with us (las vegas) all in all i think ccp does a outstanding job at keeping things real with it's customer base.
I think you mean the FanFest in Iceland there. The Vegas thing was held by a 3rd party afaik.

CCP is a relatively small company. They're bringing a new venture online and preparing for a big trade show. They can only do so much at once. Sure, there are bugs but they don't seem to be killing the game, so things seem quite reasonable to me considering the circumstances. ____________________________________________________________________

And im all for the expansions, the development to make another shard in china, kali and so forth. I also realise that CCP is not that big a company, and i also know that they have expanded to about double size in the last year or so. THerefore i realize that CCP is pressed for time to develop the game. All im stating is that a lot of players are being left behind in the process to a degree which is becoming a little bit ridicolous.
This thread was made in the hope that i could get a lot signers for CCP fixing the broken ships (not nerfed) a little bit quicker. But it seems that that the majority of the posters missed that part. It is not a "yuore doing it all wrong thread"

Where do I sign to have you de-lobotomized?
Blasters, getting fixed. Force Recon problem, getting fixed. Preicision missiles, getting nerfbat(iirc). Sucky AFs, getting boosts. 5% falloff for wolf(?), getting fixed. AF 4th bonus... Malthros not having a Cap charger II BPO, being fixed...?
Few other bugs are being worked on, you just gotta forum ***** more.

Kieron
I understand (as i have stated earlier several times) that you have a lot of things cooking. And some comments to others calling me a whiner. In my definition, a whiner is a player wanting something for their ship of choice, line the min carier, the too powerfull raven. The list is endless. That is not at all what i am talking about. Im talking about code flaws (look in the original post).
Players have trained purposefully for those ships, and then it turns out they cannot be used for what they intended to, and what they were described as. Fine, a code problem, not fixed in a month, not fixed in two still ok, but getting close to half a year and still not fixed that is my complaint. I would think that will not qualify as a whiner, only as a legitimate complaint. Ohh, and the title of this thread was meant a little as a provocation, and it seems it worked (to dev responces already?). At least put the known bugs, on the known bugs lists.
