I'm wondering if i'm the only one having this problem.... why the hell does at least 1 drone seems to be retarded and get 2k away from my ship then go so slow it basically stops , is this problem ever going to be fixed? As in some cases (specially using t2 drones) this delay can be VERY costly.

...but that isn't always the best solution.

Give them the 'return and orbit' command, then scoop to dronebay when they arrive. I find that almost always works.

usually happens when your moving i find.
I think the problem is that the drones use their mwd to get to 1500m from the ship (so they can dock) but you move out of the way before the ship can dock them (Think about opening a can when traveling at a high speed, same kinda delay). The drone then puddles after you and doesnt re-engage its mwd.
Easiest way to stop it from happening is to stay stationary when you call them to return, or approach them if they start gimping on you.
Hopefully their base speed can be increased to ~500m/s and that would fix it. _______________________________________________ Deadspace For Dead space!

I see, but is it suppose to work this way? or is this a bug, because when in battle, specially doing lets say a lvl 4 mission comming to a complete stop for 1 or 2 drones that cost 100ks doesnt seem right.
Do you have to be completely still b4 issuing the command? because even when stopping after issuing it doesnt work.

I've tried that trick. It seems to have the same success rate as just calling them to the drone bay.
Im sick of the drone thing myself. Really ****es me off.

I've had some success with just letting my drones idle. When drone don't have a target, they simply come back to you (without their MWD unfortunatly, which is OK in my light-drone using Ishkur but ****ty with my heavy-drone using Ishtar). Once they're in range I just scoop 'em up; they never get caught "just outside" of scoop range.

The drone bugs make me glad I fly Caldari.
Most of the time I just dont bother launching the few light drones I have.

What I hate most is when they reached docking range and they float just outside docking range again, and just sit still like 1600m away from you. I lost so many drones to this and its pretty annoying, especially when using t2 heavy drones like Axis said.

I love it even more that they often sit well within scooping range, stating they're 'returning to drone bay'. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |

I find the best way is to send them to attack something in front of you whilst you're alligning and when they get in front, return to drone bay, that way you're already aproaching the one that will be stuck at 2km...

ya, stop moving, and tell them to attack something, them switch them to return to ship.
If you have nothing to attack, drop a useless piece of loot in a can and have them attack can.

Ah yes. The non-feature that will make anyone claiming drones are overpowered look silly. Takes longer to get the dumb drones back into drone bay than to kill the enemy ship(s). New sig coming soonÖ Drone musing (MC-boards) |

I read another forum recently that CCP are more interested in making money than fixing problems, perhaps this is true cause this bug has been around for ages and it really ****s me off !

Or *gasp* it might be a difficult bug to fix. No wai!

let's just face it, Drone AI is controlled by HAL-9000...
if you think about it, it explains a lot about drone behavior.

I don't see any reason why CCP would decline to fixing this problem for any reason other than a lack of time or resources... It needs fixing.
I think drones need two things: firstly, they need to respond better (or at the very least, respond correctly) to various player commands, and they need to re-implement the feature that lets us drop drones from the cargo hold to the drone bay (which requires another system put into place that regulates active drones vs. actual drone bay, to prevent 'sploits).

Maybe they don't like being cooped up in the lil drone bay. From The Many - One "Action should never be divorced from consequence." "Know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I go 'n beat you with 'til you learn who's in command." |

That would be a terrible idea. You would basically be making cargo space into drone space. Your idea would allow a raven to have more waves of heavy drones than a dominix. Plus, adding cargo expanders would be like adding drone space, which is also an awful idea.
I do agree though that drones should be fixed, it's not like "doing what they're commanded to do" is asking all that much of the devs.

Moving drones from your cargo hold to drone bay isn't that much of a bad idea. It could need 95%cap to move each one (much like onlining modules inspace) to prevent abuse so no big deal.
Anyway on the subject.... increase scooping range to 3-5 km plz!

In fact this is one of the most annoying bugs at the moment.
It's the only thing that keeps me from moving to tech 2 drones. A BUG!

It cost me a BS kill the other day - the mediums I had used to kill his tackler wouldn't come back, took FOREVER to get them into the bay and launch heavies to hit the BS, by which time he knew he was beaten, and had stopped shooting, waited the aggro timer, and docked before I could kill him
