** HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US **
Two years ago, I decided that I wanted to do something different. The box said that you could be a mercenary in EVE but there wasnÆt really any support for it. So we pretty much had to make it up as we went along.
At first, this meant finding someone who was ****ed off at someone else enough to pay an outside group of people money to whack them repeatedly with a virtual bat. It was actually a lot easier than we thought. Did you know that there are a lot of people in EVE that really donÆt like each other??
The influx of players from Earth & Beyond really helped. After leaving a game with hardly any PvP to speak of, those people were really itching to inflict some damage on each other for camping spawns or chasing giant gas balloons or whatever it was that got them all upset.
BDCI started with a Crow, a few Rifters, a Kestrel and a Scorpion battleship (I still have it!). Two years later, we have more toys, a few more pilots and have accomplished everything we set out to do at the start.
Throughout it all, BDCI has managed to stay relatively small. We donÆt actively recruit, but every now and then someone interesting comes knocking on our door and we give him or her a nice grilling to see if they might fit in. WeÆve never cared about skill points or whatÆs on your in game resume; with BDCI, itÆs about the players behind the characters.
Thank you to everyone that believed in us and supported us. Thank you to every member of BDCI, past and present. Most of all, thank you to the members of the Mercenary Coalition, especially FRICK for believing in the dream and helping to shape it. We wouldnÆt be here without you guys and girls.
Lastly, the long-awaited History of the MC video has finally been completed and released. So, if you have half an hour to spare, please head over to the Video Section to see where we came from and enjoy yourself.

Cant praise bdci and to some extent frick. For imo making something out of nothing. Ccp did nothing bar right it on a box to promote mercs. Yet Bdci/Frick wrote the book on it at least the profesional mercs.
Maybe after your 2 year birthday next patch you may even get a working contract system.. well you can hope at least :)

I still remember the incursion into FOE space back in the xetic days. When the mc and xetic formed one big blob.
Seleene prolly went crazy because of the inexperience of the xetic pilots  . But it pulled me into pvp

Oh, yeah, we all remember that one. I think it was probably Jodax going crazy tho. XETIC got to the gate about 30 seconds before we did and jumped right into an FoE meatgrinder. We followed and spent the next five minutes warping in and out into an expanding field of cans because none of the XETIC pilots were warping out. Not the finest fleet battle I've ever been a part of.

Many memories of Empire wars, especially Yulai. Was a shock when I joined CLS on day 2 of my EVE life and people started telling me we are at war with mercs. I was like "WTF?? Mercs, huh??" since I had no clue what was going on till I started losing ships.
