I love my prowler about as much as everybody else here loves their blockade runner.
A shield tank with an ab or mwd in the mids.
Nano local hulls in the lows.
The only time some gate camps can even lock me before I warp is if I have to do a 180¦ after jumping while aligning.
Its also fun to test my tank when I go through rancer and allow the pirates there to shoot a broadside at me before I jump. ---------------------------------- I am free \o/ Sadly your sig is also slightly above the required limits of 400 x 120, total size not exceeding 24000 kbs - Cortes |

I forget. lol. BUt they were using T1 hybrid ammo, and did not have a stasis web fitted.
I was running 2x T2 invuln fields, and had about 80% resist to thermal and kinetic or something. moving at 650m/s

Sounds odd, at first, but I wanted to do the math to see...
Medium Shield Booster II 90 hp / 3 sec + 40% = 42 hp / sec
At average resistance 70%, that equals 140 raw DPS tanked. Crane has 1875.6 shield hp with Shield Management IV, which at that resistance equals 6252 raw hitpoints.
Travelling at 800 m/s, reaching jumping distance will take approx. 18 seconds (assuming accelerating will take 4 seconds [with an average velocity of 400 m/s]; that's just my guess). In that time, 6252 + (42 * 20) / 18 = 394 DPS is needed to take down the shields, not taking passive recharge into consideration.
An average HAC will do from 200 to 600 DPS, or thereabouts. It will, however, have to gain lock and reach optimal range to start to deal damage (not taking any other pilot or situation related delays into consideration). With a signature radius of 125 m, the Crane is not easy to track, either. It will also have armor and hull working as a several second buffer, effectively increasing the amount of damage needed to take it down in time.
So, it is not that clear cut that two HACs should be able to kill a Crane on approach to a gate. However, as most fittings include a web, the Crane is likely doomed.
