Hi!
Im lookong for the quickest way to fly a Battleship(Megathron).
Starting off whit the right character selection and then skill by skill to fly a bs. I read about all the "basic" skills one needs but i want to know what way to go, to get a bs straight away. And all the skills that effect the bs like Cruiser lv5 or frig lv5 and so on? Spaceship command skills that is..
Energy sys Ops lv5 and all that ill take on later.
I need like a get_a_battleship_for_dummies :)
btw im going gallente! And i need the same guidence for a scorpion ^^ |

The problem is not getting as soon as possible to fly a battleship, but rather that u can put good weapons(modules and so on) on it.
What's the use of flying a BS, if u do not have the skills to make proper use of the ship.That's why people take it slowly, starting with frigate, then cruiser, and then BS.
But if u just want to fly it, try making your perception and willpower as high as possible (see http://www.evegeek.com/attributes.php for starting atributes) and u should go toward the Raven from Caldari, which is a fast BS to get into.

The requirements are:
Gallente Frigate IV
Gallente Cruiser IV
Gallente Battleship II
Spaceship Command IV
But that will not do much for you if you can't fund it or or equip it with the proper modules.

The quickest path to a BS would be to pick the options to get your character to start with Frigate IV right away. Of course, I echo the sentiments of the previous posters--you're going to be fairly useless in PvP without the much needed supporting skills.

You need to be patient in this game, step by step, if you get something to much for your skill point and experience, you will be tired really fast of the ship, and probably disapointed.

Don't forget learning skills. Get the basic ones to level 3 ASAP.

The quickest way to fly a BS is also the quickest way to lose a BS.
Especially a megathron, those require rather high player and character skills to fly properly.

Unless you plan to mine in it why the rush.. you will loose it very quickly.. 5 week old player in the same station as me has lost 2 on lvl 3 missions this week.
Battleships are not the end all ships.. Enjoy the smaller ones, learn the game and how to fly and fight first..
One must learn to crawl before one can run grasshopper.

Noobs in Battleships = Bad idea. Really Bad idea. Really really Bad idea.
I had the sense to avoid piloting a BS until I had well over 6mil skill points (not counting learning skills), and even then I used it only for NPCing.

Have to agree to all the above just hitting 10mil sp now and i am only just begining to consider the raven as an option, and even now i won't feel happy until cruise is at lvl 4. My torps is at lvl 4 but cruise is not thier yet weapons upgrades currently at lvl 3 at the mo but will wait until lvl 4. The plan is to get into the raven and npc only for another 2-3 months at which point i hope to have missile specialisations to a reasonable lvl then i will attempt the odd fleet battle. but i am dreading that as raven BS = primary pretty damm quick where as anon in ferox has enabled me to last many battles to the end.
Stay with the smaller ships imho they can be a lot of fun.

Fastest way would probably be with some sort of MWD (with the highest bonus you can afford) and lows full of nanofibers. You'd be best off starting with a fast BS anyway, so maybe a Typhoon would be your best bet.

I was under the impression that ravens were terrible for large fleet pvp..?
