Hey,
I just started playing a few days ago, and I just bought my first mining ship. Its a Caldari Bantam which I equipped with 2 Miner 1's and 2 Basic Expanded Cargohold. According to the information I can see that uses up 120/150 CPU and 4/15 power.
However, when I try and warp to a destination just 33AU away I get told that I have insufficient power to warp all the way to my destination. It then warps part way, stops, warps again, stops and finally warps a third time to get there.
Have I just loaded too much stuff onto my ship? Is there a way to upgrade the amount of power (and where do I see this "true" power value?)
Thanks for your help.

You can use micro capacitor batteries which in essence make your capacitor larger. You will see it get larger when you fit them. Also, training skills that help capacitor use will also help. I think 'warp drive operation' or something like that will decrease the amount of cap each warp uses. In no time you will be making 100AU warps without a stop. Also worthy of noting is that some ships just have really bad caps (like the condor). Although its fast, the cap is very small. A good shuttle can be made out of a condor with a few micro capacitors and a micro warp drive.
If you want, you can message my corpmate Deathdealerdoc who actually produces micro caps. Tell him that mop'n'glo sent you on the forums and he'll cut you a deal. Or I can just give you one tonight in the Jita area. <<-------------------------------------------->> Mining Division Head

The Bantam is AWFUL for warp distance. Never use it as a frigate-sized hauler; the Kestrel is better for that.
For mining ships though, you'll just have to suffer with the Bantam. Use capacitor batteries, and get the Warp Drive Operation skill. Those together will make your life so much nicer.

Edited by: Samuel Armstrong on 05/05/2006 00:43:14 The "true" power value is just your capacitor. The capacitor is much like Magic Points, Stamina, Energy Points, etc in other RPGs and gives the usage of modules/warp a cost.
In the center of the ship status, you can see the yellow ticks which is your capacitor charge. Hovering over it will give you a numeric readout of capacitor status.
There skills to make warping easier, like Warp Drive Operation in the Navigation branch.

The Energy Management skill will also increase the capacity of your...err...capacitor by 5% per skill level.

Thanks for the info. I picked up a micro capacitor battery and things are going much quicker :-)
