Edited by: Tradingjoe on 05/05/2006 00:14:33 Anyone know which level 4's cause the crazy aggro with drone use? I'm a domi pilot and don't want to lose it finding out the hard way.

I use drones in all 3 lvls of vengence no problem. World's collide, it's only a problem in the warzone, the serp base and research outpost have had no troubles using drones, so long as you keep them on a tight leash and control who they attack AT ALL TIMES.

my drones aggroed everything on vengence when i tried it and that was after flying 60km from all the groups then attempting to pull one with my guns and letting them get within 40km before unleashing my drones.

I'd been putting off getting sentry drones, and now I got them tonight.
Tried a few L3s, and noticed that everything seems to want to aggro them. Whereas the same missions would not if I used any other type of drone.
Strange. I'm sticking with heavies, and only using sentries when there's a tough nut to c.r.a.c.k (damn censor). Even then, only at 25 km+...

L4 'Missing reporter' and L4 'Police intrusion' are missions with one or two dedicated drone hunter groups in one place or another.
Launch 1 drone and have that group mwd to you from wherever they are, tagging all their friends an their wy to you. A group of frigates blinking yellow permanently is a good indicator of a dedicated anti-drone squad, but that doesn't happen everywhere. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. Did Angel Extravaganza yesterday and tried to use the drones against the buggers as usual. Not an good idea. If other enemiegroups are nearby (<40km) they seem to aggro when you release drones (no matter how good you control them). So I just tanked the buggers until I killed all the "nearby" bigger stuff. Anyway: killing webifiers/vipers with weber+drones+cruise missiles is a pain in the ass

Angels extrav the first gate allways aggros when you use drones.
Sometimes at the second gate you can get an aggro but not like the first gate where everything hates drones.
Vengence sometimes a second group aggros at the first gate, but this group seems to sometimes aggro anyway when you attack another group, so its prob not the drones.

Last level of Serpenties Extravaganza is hell when you lunch your drones.

You can imagine the look on my face when they suddenly changed that mission. Usually I could just orbit a bs in my ishtar aggroing and killing off group after groups. Then suddenly my drones got aggro from the entire pocket.
Tip here is to move away from the initial aggro as there are no webifiers there. If you move 30-50km away, there should be no unwanted aggro when releasing drones.

Just completed a lvl 4 Angel Extravaganza mission for Amarr Navy in my Domi. Only had one gun fitted to agro each group in turn. Once that group argo'd me I released my drones and the other groups didnt agro at all on any of the stages. I didnt move anywhere until the last npc was popped and I passed through the gate. Completed it without any problems.
Only difference was that this was done on the test server so does that mean they've finally fixed the problem? Or is it randum on the Extrav missions and I was just lucky?

Yup. Just lost an Ishtar to that. Got careless, and suddenly I was webbed multiple times and scrambled in the middle of the swarm, with everything and their pet dog aggroed on me. Boom.

Serp Ganza is strange... I've done it several times before, everything did agro in last pocket. I've even lost a domi there first time I did it.. After that I was doing it with rewarps. However last time they didn't all aggro for some reason even with drones... maybe it's random. As of the Vengeance, neven did they all react to drones in any pocket.. Oh and one weird thing I've learned out of it, is that it is actually less dangerous when the whole pocket aggroes you than when you kill them group by group. Because how it works with group aggro, makes me fall asleep during the mission which might cause ship loss.

Zazzmatazz, 4x drone 'killers' Worlds collide, gurista's are 'agro'd when you release drones
Cant think of any other guaranteed drone agro mission, as long as you know how to avoid it. Serp extrav (last area) some of the angel extrav pockets can have drone-agro if you dont move away before deploying them, but if done right will NOT cause drone agro.

I noticed in the second to last pocket of guristis extravaganza that if you are using sentry drones and have a lot of range you'll agro the whole stage; because the sentries agro you on warp in and if you agro them back everything in there gets a little ****ed off. Of course they fire on anything that's agroed on you after you give them their first target and give them more than a fraction of a second to choose their own target. So long as you keep them on a very tight leash it's not a problem.

Exactly. It's not a problem with using drones on SErp extravaganza, it's a problem with allowing them to attack the sentries that are attacking you instead of giving them a new target first. No matter who attacks the sentry guns, you or the drones, you'll bring the entire remaining lvl down on your head.
As for the Vengence discrepancy, we're probably talking about different vengence's. I do the one vs. Guristas, and they don't mind you using drones responsibly at all.

I wonder if this has been fixed in the last patch. In the first stage of Serp/Gurista Worlds Collide, I had killed the Serpentis with no drone use, and thought to pull aggro from the Guristas with sentries, who tank the torps quite nicely for a long time. So, I launched them and waited... and nothing happened until I aggroed the Guristas myself.
