Tranquility will be unavailable from 0900 through 2100 GMT on Wednesday, 10 May for the deployment of additional hardware. This hardware upgrade will increase the CPU and RAM utilized by the database servers and will bring the entire database hardware layer to 64-bit.
You can read more about the hardware upgrade in this news item.

I'm curious how exactly you intend to "scale up even further" when you've already maxed out / fully loaded the new hardware?
+ Up to 64GB PC2-3200 DDR II memory per chassis + ...up to 3.00GHz (dual-core)
What is left to upgrade, short of getting more racks? Uberware indeed!
We can hook the machines up with external backbones and chain the machines together into one machine. So to the OS it looks like one machine. I tested this in-house here at CCP before we shipped the machines to London and it works great. ------ Valar Database admin - Server operations team CCP Games How to write a good bugreport |

Haha, OMG How do you do that? I mean I have 3 PC's here, how can I link them together to have one Uber PC?
Oww Great stuff on the DB server upgrades.
Your hardware has to specifically support it. The IBM x460 has this as one if it's main selling points, that it can chain together the "bricks". It certainly sold us

The forums and even account management will be offline while we move the database to the new hardware. ------ Valar Database admin - Server operations team CCP Games How to write a good bugreport |

Hey everybody, checking in from E3. I'm going to lock and unstick this thread and start-up a new one to discuss the issues that came up during the hardware deployment.
