Best case scenario, people learn how to fly safely and not take pointless risks, which is, I believe, the best reason for keeping the mechanisms in High Sec as loose as they are. Well this is not about the mechanics of hi-sec but about the new CODE war dec on high sec to force people to vote they way they want. I don't want hi-sec to change, I love it just the way it is. But It kinda annoys me when someone is trying to influence the CMS by blackmailing people in the game. "Do as we say or we will blow you up." Well with this and the Goons freighter hunt that will just make my profit a little better if they are successful that is.
You think that if you did as you believe they want that they wouldn't blow up unguarded freighters?

Catherine Wolfisheim wrote: It isn't hard for them to drop by with the message that NullSec alliances can offer better protection, so indirectly they could be using third-party corporations to instigate a constant sense of danger for those that reside in HighSec. They can easily profit from the flocks of people that would simply join their ranks to empower their political intrigues with other alliances in NullSec.
I can see your point when you make it like that, however it still doesnt really change that the (true) perception of Null is that its simply far too dangerous and difficult for an independant (as in of a Nulliance) group to set up in Null, even as a Renter you require more resources than most Highliances have available. I dont really think the Nulliances ARE looking for flocks of newblood, they are more of a "jobs for the boys" network in most cases, hiring from those who specifically go to Null to join them, as well as their friends who are interested in EvE but dont know where to start.
Catherine Wolfisheim wrote: Exactly my point; by causing difficulty to HighSec corporations, and new pilots they are basically destroying HighSec, and that's where a lot of people keep their alts to generate a revenue stream to support their main objectives. Therefore, it is quite a nice turn of events that HighSec is becoming less and less secure due to the LowSec alliances basically ravaging HighSec through war declarations. However, if you have any clear ideas on how to improve the situation then it is for the best that you publicly share these ideas as many HighSec corporations, and alliances are facing grave difficulties.
That pretty much does sum up my view and Im glad that we do agree on this. This however does lead to another few problems; successful people in EvE are loathe to let others know the secret of their success, and mostly due to the fact that its a competitive market place. Friends of mine who dwell in highsec do offer help, but they choose those they give help and advice to closely, mostly due to avoiding the opportunities for AWOXing and corporate espionage that this may provide. Its a vicious circle however.
Of course, if you look at how NO operate, they have organised themselves very tightly and very quickly, and there is a lot to learn from that operation, even for non-PVE organisations. TBH my opinion on NO is that is is a good influence on High Sec, as at the very very least their MO is extremely well publicised and so easier to work out how to survive. How many other gankers announced their presence or intent publically before hitting a belt? *** Vote MTU For CSM *** ***Free The Jita 1*** "They feel the need to cover their ears and eyes in horror at your very presence." - Pontianak Sythaeryn "Facebook would never tolerate that behaviour we are talking about" - Big Lynx |

More than just the "same shite, different day" is going on here. There may well be even MORE ganking going on now, as rational-thinking people protest the unequal treatments given to E1 and Sohkar, both of whom are equally guilty of violating the TOS. I know I'm going to be bringing my suicide ganking alt out of retirement, and I'll be sending each victim an evemail informing them that their death was my way of protesting what I perceive to be an injustice, an unequal application of the rules. I plan on highly encouraging my corp members to engage in all manner of griefing and underhandedness in protest as well.

To harm highsec one must reduce the profitability of highsec production, to reduce the profitability of highsec production one must eliminate demand for highsec produced goods, and in order to do that would require something that goes against the very foundation of the game....
If you wish to truly wage war on high sec, don't pvp. If their is no pvp their is no loss of goods, prices will plummet as items stack up in the hubs, which will cause production to faulter, which will cause a surplus in minerals, which will drive down the value of ores, which will make mining less profitable.
Ganking more will help highsec, it will only create further demand for goods which will fuel production which will increase demand for minerals which will drive up the value of ore. If you really want to hurt highsec you have to hurt it's economy, and the only way to do that is to stop participating in and inhibit gameplay that the highsec economy is based on. |

You know what the irony is? If it happens and I believe it will.
If the New Order/CODE come up with an interesting new ganking event that becomes somewhat successful, the goons will steal it from them and make it their own.
Remember Hulkageddon? Remember Helicity Boson? Most remember the first but not the second. Why? Because the little bees insinuated themselves into Helicity's event and took it over.
I can totally see this happening with James and his crew becoming has-beens with the little bees front and center.
It won't change anything for the people losing ships, but it sure will be funny if it happens.

You misunderstand completely. I am protesting that the rules are NOT being applied. It's (an even more egregious, imo) violation of the TOS to make threats of real-life bodily harm and murder against another player, as it is to make racial slurs. Nevertheless, Sokhar gets a free pass and suffers no consequences for breaking the rules, yet E1 gets permabanned for breaking the rules.
If you ban one, you have to ban the other, or you're not accepting and applying the rules of the game. See the difference? I dont care that E1 got banned, I care that he did and the other guy (who imo committed the more severe "crime") did not.

It's all about NullSec politics, clearly. However, when you see it in a certain way the one most beneficial from this are NullSec alliances that could encourage a chunk of the pilot population to move from HighSec to potentially LowSec or even NullSec. Although, the current constant input of war declarations towards new corporations, or simply new players, and those who prefer to play within HighSec risks to break the game apart.

Really? I am not sure if you read my post or just made something up to respond to. The only thing that I am complaining about is that they have posted the reason that they are doing it to get a guy away from CSM. Them blowing up freighters or the like don't concern me the least. Its the IRL blackmail attitude that annoys me. Its not "Give us iskis or we will kill you." Its "Vote as we want you to IRL or we will harass you in game until you do as we say." You might claim that its not harassment but the fact remains that they are using the game to get their will through IRL. Thats the only thing that annoys me about this.
As for them or the goons killing miners and freighters? That just increases my profits so I don't mind that the slightest. |
