My Alt has 13 million skill points in industry, has all build skill smaxed, can fly T2 indies, and can use A Hulk if I wanted. I have my alt around to handle all the things that I don't want to do with my main. With the second account I also have a un-trained character that I use as a decoy when entering 0.0 space with my main, I have pirates or gate campers lock onto the alt, and then I warp away with my main. It usually works quite well.

Hauling
Mining
Production
Scouting
Looting (two tractors on a 550m/s frig! yay!)
If you have 3 accounts, you can use two mining barges and a hauler at the same time...
If you have 4, you can have 2 barges, a hauler and a BS ingame at the same time...

2x chars for pvp and npc'ing ( one minnie specialised, the other one caldari and cov-ops)
1x industrial/trade/research char ( not much in use lately, but it's cool to have one )
1x younger char, covert ops + freighter so far, not in my corp/alliance, for empire work, spying around etc.

with a second account wouldnt it be called a second main insteadsince it has all the abilities to train skills all the time like your first main.
personally i use mine for buying beer, spending isk on exotic dancers, running missions and sneaking up on people i wanna kill.

Use my second character for covert ops related things primarily, then i thought it would be fun to train up missles and now I bum around in a Cerberus with it
what a waste of iskies :P
edit: Second account type alt. Being able to train skills is a good thing, or so i'm told :P

I use all 3 accounts for combat and corp maintenance.
All 3 chars will enter the samme mission complex, one will tank and do some damage, while the others will do pure damage. 3x firepower compared to running true solo and no sharing of bounties between the others that would have helped if needed.
And it is nice having full access to the corp hangars no matter what char is logged in. And trading is SO much more fun when you have two fast haulers on the way to pickup, while the third is buying remotely as well as heading for a pickup location. 3x the profit there too...
Basicly, if you can run more than one client on your computer, as soon as the new character is up to speed with skilltraining and equipment, you will be able to do (almost) everything you normally do, just faster...
