Main pain is item selection UI for item exchanges and couriers. This is basically quite painful to use. What I'd like to see is it use the main inventory UI in some way; then you have all the filtering and stack/split functionality available.
Basically have the inventory window support showing a remote location (hangar, corp hangar, deliveries), preferably independent of the contract system. Then either use its existing selection features for picking, or have a drag&drop target on the contract window (like the trade window basically).
The contract item picker is the only place you can remote split stacks though, so don't lose that (it got broken once in a patch and it was a nightmare).
Double bonus points if you can then remote stack...
A smaller change would be to filter the hangar list to hangars that actually have things in them; it's several clicks per courier contract just to reset it to "Deliveries" when I don't even have an office in the selected station.
Finer grained time settings on courier contracts would be good; e.g. 12 or 4 hour deliveries.
Built-in support for fast delivery bonus rewards would also be good; e.g. 24 hour time limit, but bonus if delivered in 4 hours.

The person putting up the contract specifies that they want X things (which can include fitted ships) in Y place at Z time. They can put materials with are immediately released to the supplier. They can require a collateral to be posted. A payment can be posted as well, given after the contract is completed.
Once the contract is accepted, it cannot be cancelled (until Z time is passed) It can be completed whenever X things are at Y place.
Useful for: Compression of ore contracts. People wanting X ships built and fit for them. Etc.
Years back (I think as part of the run up to the expansion that added the Orca) there was talk of "storefronts" which were along a similar line. If done properly this would have been very powerful. -- |

Change to current [Courier contract] - Limit collateral to ~120% of estimated value of the Items in the contract. example: you have a contract that you want to have taken from point A to point B, the estimated value is 150M in 150m³ the Collateral would then be cut down to 150M*1.2 = 180M, should you try to put in a higher collateral. - while this may not solve critical issues, it does help remove the stupid and unwanted contracts containing only 0-20M of value but takes up 300k m³ cargohold and have a collateral of 2-3bn[/list]
This doesn't work from a technical point of view since the inventory estimates of many items is totally wrong; T2 capital components, I'm looking at you - either it picks up the super-high values used by margin trade scammers, or it values them at zero.
It's also wrong from a gameplay point of view. my teapot is ready |
