Quote: that is exactly what i want ,it would stop all the greedy people from being able to make hundred's of millions a day.
Yes, and it would also stop other people from getting implants. Great solution.
How about we just leave it the way it is and let the price fall naturally as more people acquire the implants by doing missions instead of jumping to hasty solutions within 48 hours of them being added to the game?
Seriously, you're *****ing because the price is too high, yet you yourself said they are easy to get - so you want to make them harder to get so people can't make money...
Yah, read that again. Doesn't make sense to you does it? That's because it's nonsense.
Give it up. Implants are fine the way they are. If people are willing to pay 100M then let them, they'll realize in a couple days what fools they were.

Quote: Edited by: Snoop on 21/09/2003 04:34:13 actually i am selling them ,and im more than confident that the supply will be greater than the demand in a day or two... ive only done about 10 missions today and already got 3 implants from my agent in that short period of time. i got 2 implant missions in a row which shows just how common they will become very soon. its not like you have to do agent missions for hours on end in the hope that u might get one implant
The buyers are not strictly paying for my implants, they are paying for the time it took me to where I am now.

Edited by: Luther Pendragon on 21/09/2003 11:08:30 I think the time I've spent on agents to get my lvl 3, I couldve made several hundred millions doing something else. So when I get my implant, its going to be sold expensive!
I would agree that we get too many goodies too easily though, I dont want implants to go the general way of the market does, all screwed up, plus, even ruins the skills training, everyoens a super char soon. ____________________________________ Taggart wants YOU. In the time they have been given as rewards its difficult to see if they will be rare or not.
Whatever their occurence rate there are two factors that will limit their availability for a while - the people doing agent missions will want them for themselves and their alts and they are (or will be) consumables - if you die they are destroyed.
Snoop if you don't want to feel like you are ripping others off why not use the money to help corp mates / anybody?
These missions are available to all only with a lot of time and effort. I don't mind if someone is making millions selling bpc's, battleships, miner II's etc. and if someone wants to buy at the price i set fine - if they don't i reduce the price until they do. At the moment people are buying at 20m. The advantage to them now is they save massive amounts of time on training but eventually as consumables - 100m to replace an implant set will seem ridiculous to everyone and the prices will fall.

I expect they'll always cost a few million, but it'll be a few weeks before that happens. Ultimately you need far fewer of them than any other type of module - 1 of each per character maximum. Most people will only want 1 of each for their main character. With modules you generally have a few spread around various ships and some spares, and add to that you're way more likely to lose a ship than be podded.
Right now there's a rush of people doing missions to avoid having to pay megabucks for implants. Once most of them reach the stage where they are getting implants the price will drop, possibly going up again slightly once those people have 1 of each for themselves. A similar thing happened with cargo expanders that were dropped by low bounty pirates - initiallythey were pricey, but not ultra-pricey, then they were cheap because lots of people were hunting those pirates then as people moved on to bigger things those pirates were no longer hunted and the price went through the roof.

With the way prices vary so greatly atm I thought it would be a good idea to bring this thread back so;
*bump*
For those still wondering what prices are like - I had offers of 200k and 20m for the same implant. Guess which price I accepted?
So keep the faith ppl - even if prices eventually become rubbish they will still be useful to you so don't ***** under the pressure of bargaining for a decent price
Implants will rule for a while

Good luck maintaining this price. Go sit in the Trade channel and watch how many people are "WTS Willpower/Charisma/Perception Implants."
Prices are down around 9M if you are lucky, more like 6-8M average.
INT/MEM Implants or the occasional desperate customer are your only chances left to make 15+M in one sale I would say.

What people are so desperate making quick money that they dont understand their own good? Let the market scream for these babies, just stock up. They will sell anyway when people realize they lose training time waiting for prices to drop.

No, the problem isn't people selling too low - it's too MANY people selling. Hundreds of people are getting Level 3 Agents at this point, implants are literally flooding into the game.
Why would people pay 60M+ for a set of implants when they can have their own and some to sell in two days of doing easy missions?

Yes, you want everybody to sell high. It's a pipe dream, give it up. When 250 people are all trying to beat each other to customers the price is going to plummet no matter what you want.

No i want people to stop selling if they cant get decent prices, why are everyone so desperate to sell? let the large public that dont got energy to do these missions get hungry first. They are going to sweat since they got to have these implants to not fall behind.

Right, also an idea that sounds good in theory but won't work.
Look at it this way, even if you convince 85% of the implant sellers to stockpile their implants, the other 15% are just going to fill the demand and charge much higher prices. Then by the time the other 85% wise up and start selling, everyone will be supplied and prices will be rock bottom.
You can't just put a cork on a commodity that is this easy to get. Even if some people agree with you you would need almost EVERYONE to cooperate for this to work. 20 or so people will Level 3 agents could supply plenty of implants to drive the market.

On the notion that implants are being rewarded too easily, I concur. Agent missions had the potential, if handled realistically, to give mission practioners an edge, an advantage. Let us face the truth. Hard working mission seekers have lost that edge due to the flooding of the market with implants given (in my opino) too frequently. Our hard work has not been rewarded with a niche position. Alas, I will still do missions though, for the chance that new tech and items will be filtered into the plot.

Veruna I dont see this as an easy-to-get merchandise. People will buy these for 10M each easily if they cant get lower prices. Those that cant afford (new in the game) will take matters in their own hands and do missions. These people will probably do the same if prices are 5-7M

The thinking that supply is higher than demand is false. They have the money, they have the alts, they also want the goods. ____________________________________ Taggart wants YOU. Join TTi! *waves his hand in your face in the jedi way* |

This statement doesn't make any sense. The people "flooding the market" have done the same amount of work as you.
Just because you did it first doesn't mean it was harder or more of an accomplishment than the people doing it now.

I realize they are easy to get Veruna. I was only wishing that implants would be rarer so that the people who do missions would be able to share in the limelight that is "owning a rare and limited" supply. We are only getting a week to sell these things for a highly profitable price at the rate they are popping out...that is all. It would be nice if the moment lasted longer, that is all.

Learn from this situation. This is the first decent reward released into the Agent system. Do you think it will be the last?
There are 2 more levels of Agents to go, think Advanced implants, think Tech level 2, think big.
Basic implants will be just that - basic. They had a flash in the pan day or two where everyone was scrambling to waste their money, but it couldn't last.
Just rest assured if you stick with it your perserverence will pay off again someday.

Your stating everything I just said. Yes, I will work hard and yes I know there are better things coming. Why agressively pursue my every word for a mere emotional expression of "I wish".

Edited by: Ezra on 24/09/2003 04:48:20 Implants seem to be down to about 10mill now. (At least Perception implants, that's the average mkt price for actual transactions in Domain.)
I have a feeling they'll stabilize close to this (except for social implants which have low demand).
Below 10mill, it's simply not worth the time to hunt them. Given an average of 4 hours of missions per implant (My average is increasing, it's now up to 5-6 hours because my agent is being stingy.), at 10mill it's about equivalent of mining midgrade ores (kernite/omber) in a properly equipped Thorax. At 8mill it's on par with scord.
So if the price drops below 10mill, the supply will decrease because less people will be willing to run missions to obtain implants. Thus the price will stabilize at 8-10mill. (I hope. If it drops below that, people are being stupid because they can make more by mining instead.) ------------ Ezra Cornell pe0n, Xanadu Corporation |

Unfortunately, the problem with the "better stuff will come later" is that now that everyone (mostly) is getting their lvl 3 agents, they'll be set to get The Next Big Thing unless CCP makes it time consuming to get to the next level.
Comparing another game (EQ) and a similar situation with crafting skills (manufacturing in EVE), once people levelled up to the point of making The-Good-Stuff (cuz the people who used to just make The-Less-Than-Good-Stuff-But-Crafted-Just-For-Fun now could make The-Good-Stuff and sell it for Big Bux), they are perfectly capable of making The->>Next<<-Good-Stuff when it comes out, thereby crowding out the crafters long term.
Hopefully "Mission Folk" won't be similarly left out when the people who just missioned-for-implants can now get The->>Next<<-Good-Stuff.
Time will tell.
