I donŠt want to see these implants selling for low prices now u hear? We have been beaten to much for this moment to pass us by without some serious cashflow. If they want the implants they have to pay for them or do the missions themselves.

I think that implants should only be implanted by the agent. IE) Agents that supply the implants should have the service.
Taken from the May 29th 2003 Devchat at EveGate . <Muaddid> Q: When will sentry gun and station and similar construction pods be introduced on the market? <Hellmar> we have various player owned entities already implemented. Sentry guns, power/shield generators, field repair mini-stations, mobile refineries. We are still working out the last tidbits of how they can be over taken, what is the penalty of having a sentry gun kill a n00b etc. and we have been a bit busy with plugging the holes that people have found.I would say that you'd start to see these items on the market in about 2-3 weeks, very expensive to begin with |

Edited by: Veruna Caseti on 20/09/2003 06:54:30 Well, charge whatever you want, but only a fool is going to pay more than 4-7 days worth of income for something they can rightly get by doing missions in the same amount of time.
So, charging 100M is going to limit your market to people who can make that kind of money really fast, or idiots who don't realize they can get their own in less time than it takes them to make that kind of money.

You forget that alot of people can't do agent missions (low sec people), alot wont go through the boredom of hundreds of missions and some just won't be able to wait a week.
The price can stay high for a while yet I think.

Lowsec players will just use an alt.
I'm currently doing missions for my best agent to try to get implants.
50M isk is WAY too much.

I think 25m is a fair price. I think nobody should sell implants for less than 20mill.

4-7 days for me is well ovr 100 million.
Honestly V i wonder sometimes.
People can charge whatever they like if others will pay it. I know folks who have allready paid 100 mil and ive regulars paying over 25 mil.
25mil looks like th current base price for the basic + 3s. Having said that many perception/willpower orinetated players will pay far more for +mem and +int.
Find the right buyer and you can get what you want.
The entire concept of EVE is based on this.
(Im already trading for battleship BPCs and cash over 25 mil)
{quote]Idiots who dont realise they can get their own
These would be idots with no way to do so? Such as filthy rich pirates with low sec? People living out in the stix with lots of money and no inclination to even do missions?
Honestly V stop judging the galaxy by your own cash standards, stop calling people with oodle sof money "idiots" and you might make more money.
It could take WEEKS for people with no agents to get an implant.. their value is high and that is a good thing (TM)

Good for you. How many people are capable of this? I would guess not a large percentage.
Quote: People can charge whatever they like if others will pay it.
Right. If you read my post I said that already.
In the end I stand by my statement. For the vast majority of EVE the time it takes to make the money they are willing to pay for these implants far outweighs the time it would take them to get one. So, the fact that they are jumping on the chance to throw their ISK away makes them idiots in my book.

What's the difference? Just because you treat them nicely so they keep giving you money doesn't mean they're not stupid.
Tommy Hilfiger treats their customers quite nicely, but that doesn't mean I don't think they're morons for paying $120 for a pair of jeans I can get on the GAP clearance rack for $15.

And I would answer with, your ISK balance is higher than mine because I just started playing the game and hence have very few avenues to make cash (including no level 3 agents).
If I had the implants to sell, I would be selling them too. I'm not saying YOU are doing anything wrong Morkt. In fact I respect your marketing ability.
I only said I'm not stupid enough to BUY them, I never said I'm not smart enough SELL them.

nah its ok - im only playing with you.
There is a very strange mentality in EVE though, since the start of the game, for radical undercutting of prices... we've seen it in everything from frigates through to battleships.
EVE players seem incapable of matching prices to compete and only able to radically slash the legs out from beneath the market.. its VERY odd...
im looking at a billion isk bp and thinking "my god i need to sell 700 bpcs of this just to break even!"
Somewhere alogn the way all that gts seen is "How easy" it is to provide something "today" - aka with implants "But you can get 3 or 4 in a day so they cant be worth much." It ignores any work on standings and missions to get that point and, greater yet, ignores the radical effect of the stat gain on training times.
These implants ARE worth the isk... more so than many other items and, ironically, of perhaps more intrinsic value to late starters to the galaxy.

Quote: These implants ARE worth the isk... more so than many other items and, ironically, of perhaps more intrinsic value to late starters to the galaxy.
Ahh, but unfortunately the late starters are the ones who only have 5-10M (maybe 20-25?) in their wallets and can't begin to afford paying the current going prices for implants.
I would love to buy some, but I would literally empty my wallet on one - and that's over a month's work in mining and mineral trade.
This is the heart of the "rich get richer" problem. The people with the HUGE wallets are the ones who get the items and set the prices - for other people with HUGE wallets. =) Meanwhile the people who would benefit the most from the implants can't even afford to think about one, let alone buy them.
So, it's Agent missions for us while the big-wigs speed the training that they've already got a headstart on.
Not "whining" about it though. I'm not above working for my rewards, and I'll keep at the missions until I have a few implants to call my own. Then maybe my 790k skill points will start counting up a bit faster.

implants should sell for 10mil or less i really cant be bothered doing many agent missions a day even though there is a hell of alot of money to be made ,i usually get really bored quickly and dont feel like playing the game after a few missions and i expect alot of people feel the same which kind of justify's there high prices. but come on anything above 10mil is just plain greedy!
i would just like to ask people that they do not sell implants to pirate's if they are a known pirate please say "I do not deal with scum" and close the conversation :) yes they can still use alt's to buy them but that is alot of hassle to go threw so let them

So, let's see if I get the gist here. You can't be bothered to get the implants yourself, and don't want to pay more than 10 million for them, therefore everybody should charge less just so you can buy them?
Two words for you: Too bad.
If you don't like the price, don't buy, or go get them yourself. Just because you don't want to pay that much doesn't mean that everyone should suddenly cut prices.
Secondly, pirate's money is just as good as anyone else's. While it's an individual's decision whether or not to sell to known pirates, asking other people to turn away perfectly good isk on some kind of moral highground doesn't wash.

The market forgives nothing
Morals and Market Dominance do not mix
It's a matter of making the most money. Example: You go to a store and talk to a sales person, or a manager and exlpain to them that you dont' have enough money to buy what they sell, and they'll usually tell you thats a sad story and point you in the direction of a place that'll have stuff to sell for your budget.
When it comes to buisness, compassion is a rare thing. Look at the clothes you wear ... I'd be willing to bet it cost less then a dollar (maybe 2) to actually make it .. but it's sold at what? 15? 20? 35? ... They'll price things at what will sell, and not a bit under.
Here in Eve, people complain if producers make more then 20% on something ... god forbid they charge what npc's would (600%). There is no regard for the time it takes to acquire the materials. The time it takes o research blueprints. The time it takes to increase skills for a more efficient production system. The only equation many see is mineral cost = good deal, below mineral cost = best deal, more then mineral cost = rip off.... unfortunatly, many producers seem to feed into this. Its sad... those that could change things, don't. I've seen some producers not want to rip costomers off and would not sell for higher then 40% profit... was an intresting discussion... I don't think she's still producing.
Implants will sell for what people can get for them, the more impatient the sellers are, the lower the prices.
You can do anything you set your mind to. |

erm i already have a lvl3 agent i do the ocasional few misions every few hours , i have already got perception ,willpower and charisma implants from him that i installed and i got a spare perception implant that i sold for 10mil. i am not some kind of lamer who desperatly wants prices down because i need to buy them.
THE IMPLANT MISSIONS ARENT EVEN RARE, I URGE CCP TO MAKE IT SO EACH IMPLANT IS ONLY GIVEN ONCE PER AGENT TO STOP ALL THE GREEDY PEOPLE ROBBING PEOPLE BLIND! AND MAKING A FORTUNE DOING SO. IF I WAS BOTHERED ABOUT HAVING MORE ISK THAN I CAN SPEND, I WOULD DO AGENT MISSIONS FOR 7 HOURS A DAY CHARGE 20MIL AND HAVE A BILLION WITHIN A FEW DAYS,

If they are so common, then prices will fall quickly due to normal market pressure.
Additionally, people will only be able to get that kind of isk from people actually handing over their cash. Not from sales to NPCs or whatever. If people are dumb enough to pay 20 million isk for an implant, well, more power to you for selling it to them. This is not a monopolistic situation like it is with Miner 2's, everyone has implants available to them if they put in the effort.
Some won't, and others will be willing to pay stupid amounts of isk for them. More power to the sellers, that's the spirit of EVE.
Welcome to capitalism.

... Just how exactly is anyone "ROBBING PEOPLE BLIND!" here? 'Tis a strictly business relation of supply and demand, and if i might note... the relation of which you Sir --being neither the buyer nor the seller-- are not a part... so i fail to see just why your loud indignation should matter here any...

LOL, when or where are you from? 19th or commie country? every heard about free market? everybody has the equal chance to get implants, so the current price is fair for all. and miner 2 is not, so miner 2 price is monoplay, and free echonomy is against monoplay, it makes sense that people against miner 2 price, but against implant price? LOL IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD THE PRICE, THEN GO GET IT YOURSELF AND SHUT UP. LONG LIVE THE FREEDOM.

Edited by: Snoop on 21/09/2003 04:34:13 actually i am selling them ,and im more than confident that the supply will be greater than the demand in a day or two... ive only done about 10 missions today and already got 3 implants from my agent in that short period of time. i got 2 implant missions in a row which shows just how common they will become very soon. its not like you have to do agent missions for hours on end in the hope that u might get one implant

Umm, okay genius - if you make the implants MORE RARE how is that going to bring the price down? Answer: it won't. If anything it will keep the price where it is or even drive it higher because fewer people will be able to get the implants.
Keep them as common as they are, and the price will fall naturally. You just need to calm down, they have been in the game for less than 48 hours - give it time.

"actually i am selling them ,and im more than confident that the supply will be greater than the demand in a day or two..."
Oh, obviously; but then this very fact defeats your original point how the mission frequency has to be reduced because greedy people will make billions ripping others off... non?
... BTW, i think them being so common is kind of inconsistent with how they are supposed to be "very special reward"... but given they're 'basic' items i.e equivalent of lvl.1 modules, would probably change mission wording rather than mission frequency...
