Hey, I'm a hisec carebear looking to step up his PVE. I've been said that FW missions are both remunerative and risky, and I'd like to give it a try.
Since I am new to FW, and I'd like to ask some questions regarding the missions:
1) If I enlist in the Minmatar militia, will I be shooting Amarr NPCs?
2) Which faction's Tier should I base my LP gains on? That of my own militia or that of my target militia?
3) What is the best shiptype for doing these missions?
4) Any viable fits for such a ship? |

Yes, if PVEing, you would be shooting at Amarr npc's. If you want to avoid the faction hit then just shoot at players, but defeats the purpose of pve mission running. Either that or join another faction that doesn't shoot at Amarr... I mean if that is a problem for you.
Ships, eh whatever you want to fly I guess, that which you can afford to loose. A warp disruptor is recommended, considering you would eventually engage FW peeps and pirates. If you have a cov-ops cloak you may be able to avoid it more often. |

1) Yes. You will shoot at amarr npcs. Not sure about standings, but there are mostly 6-8 to kill per mission. You ignore the rest
2) Your LPs from missions depend on your factions tier. You will however need to get some initial standing. You can do it thru plexing, and being around t1-t2 is the best income per hour when you plex (t2 is best ofc). You will have tons of quiet systems to plex in.
3) People do most of them in bombers. Other than that - vexors for indy missions. As minmatar you will want to fly amarr stealth bomber and a cruiser with high em/(thermal???) resistances that can do damage from afar. FW amarr rats will most likely TD you.
I personally run missions against minmatar on 2 accounts. This is however I have low SP and didn't skill accordingly with PVE's demands. It is a torture but gets me paid.
I've seen people running these in BCs but cruisers are preferable as people will try to tackle you. This is an easy kill for them - they will hold you just long enough for rats/friends to finish the job. Cruisers warp faster.
4) nope - my fits are suboptimal, and I cba to change skill plan cause I want to PVP better.
Side note - traveling in cruisers in FW area is asking for death. Accept only missions that are close to your base of operations unless you can reliably finish the mission in a bomber. Singature Radius 48 m |

Would you consider using a cloaky T3 for these missions? |

skill bomber....
thats all
only if u are doing misisons for gallente state u can consider buying t3 but it is cheaper to use bomber and more accounts ( u cannot make all misions but u will still win on isk rate).
If u have low skilled chars start from minmatar/amarr front. Both of those factions have very easy missions. however amarr needs t2 torps to do missions comfortably ( u need only to click orbit and shoot).

To be honest, you would probably make more LP and have less hassle just doing plexes in throw away frigates. When I am out hunting I see so many more plexes being ran than missions. I hate that the risk reward ratio is messed up on FW missions versus the plexes. After all why risk a Nemesis when a tristan with stabs is so cheap and runs plexes fine.
When I actually did FW missions rather than just kill players out there, what I did was simple accept lots of missions at once in the bleak lands, self destruct my pod to end in the metropolis, where my bombers were. Usually I would use a speed tanking frig + bomber or a blackbird + bomber. Since NPCs target switch now I doubt the speed tanked frig works as well, but since there are plenty of missions where you only have to kill one thing, and can do so quickly many times without gaining any agro in a bomber, it shouldn't be an issue.
Also do take note that if a double sebo thrasher is on a gate, you have to be quite quick with that cloak button. Same with ceptors and whatnot, losing a bomber every now and again shouldn't be an issue with the isk you can pull in, but that is something to think about before you use your t3. Well, that and the cloaky t3 subsystems just aren't great for missions. |
