The big question of the EvE galaxy....
Many ask this question. Many Joke about it. Some even idolize it and worship it. While others have no clue how to even answer this question.....
Tell us ...in your own words... How do you WIN EvE? What is it, that you honestly would have to say, makes you think you have "Won EvE"???
To be clear here, what is it, in what you do in EvE, that makes you feel like you WON at playing EvE.
(EXAMPLES ONLY) Is it killing other players?.... Is it running your corp successfully? Is it living solo in deep space and secretly planning your take over of the whole galaxy? Is it accumulating billions of ISK or fleets of ships and tech II mods? Is it makeing friends? (EXAMPLES ONLY)
I will start off....
For me winning EvE is about the real friends I have made in the game and then actually met in person and the community interaction in a open ended world.
I have enjoyed helping in the help channel often for a few years now and also wrote the guide in my signature for new and semi-new players.
For me winning EvE is "being part of the game" and not just playing the game. EvE is and open ended world in which I feel I can win in many ways everday and I am still figureing out new ways to win every day after almost 3 years in EvE

It's gota be bringing a realisation to my ambitions.
They get bigger and bigger, i love it.
Spose that would come under isk building for the most part, but what the hey, hardwork and effort to get where you want to be, that ain't a bad thing. ______ Long ago one gorgeous night, we let the stars grow free. Edited by: cpskatan on 07/05/2006 20:06:13 Cant help doing it but i always try to get the ultimate setup, for me i have won eve when i can just roam around solo and pwn everything from solo players to 15 ppl gcamp in my uber setup. Yes i know this wont happen and a titan i will never get but to go against the stream and try to get the most agile setup you can posible get is my nr 1 priority. Some days you just let creativity go berserk and you can end up with moste stuning and unpredictable setups i just love that part.
on a side note though, this isent for everybody alot of people goes insane in the process and the setups is for solo flying. Fleets and stuff got the standard setups that works so no need in getting in to that.
So will i get the setup eventualy? prolly not but im having a fun time trying.
oh friends and killing stuff are high priority to |

Lose it and start over like I have done a few times in the past... 3 YEARS?!!! Hard to believe its been that long.
To me, the only way to win EvE is by PvPing. Win or lose its always fun.

I guess it's having fun, which currently consists largely of getting to use differents kinds of cool ships and such.
[slightly offtopic rant] Though I'm really starting to get annoyed by bugs and lag (the latter I don't usually have, but it by apparently "collaborating" with the former made me lose an uninsured Domi with some decent fittings in a ridiculously easy mission [yes, "don't fly uninsured blah blah blah", but that's besides the point, if not for issues with the server/client that are out of my control I wouldn't have died anyway, and would've lost millions even with an insured ship]), so I guess for me it's current not winning EVE, but losing EVE [/slightly offtopic rant]

You win EVE when you figure out you cant fly your noob ship in "cockpit" mode with a joystick.
Its about enjoying the experience, if you let personal feelings run your game experience you end up one of those .4 gate campers who hates life. (no offense to the people who do it for money, or enjoy the challenge [blowing up indy's is no challenge] :( )
Enjoy the vastness and beauty of the game, and what you can do in it.
If you cant figure out somthing in EVE to do for fun, you lost EVE.
Smuggling, (real) pirating, bounty hunting, the thousands of war/combat options in 0.0, area control, law and order police action, hell just being a freighter pilot is cool as hell. Mining boring? Nah mining is fun. _________________________ Dont pop my ship...

People claim I won EVE when the Eris was introduced, others said I won EVE when I challenged people to 1vs1 and they backed off, or when I dodged hostile camps. That was all nice and there are countless of other moments when I felt like I had won EVE ( logging out doesn't mean I can't catch you in a stiletto, mining isn't safe when I'm around, 2 hour fleet battles when you hope you wont die of an overdose of adrenaline, when I help out a player or a corp as a vol in some way).
Good times, however,
I will win EVE when I pod my CEO among a big friendly fleet and get away with it by saying 'whoops'.
also it's fun when you shoot at other isd people (or devs) and find out who they were because they complained about you in the uber secret channels

As I stated, doing it for profit, or for the challenge I accept, but killing noob ships, and empty haulers... what the hell is that all about?

Don't bet on that. Oveur has stated numerous times that he can, with just one click, get a heck of a lot of money (dunno if it was 10 trills but it was a lot) and since he is CCP, he can go create himself (or any of us) a super-character, with all (including un-released) skills at 5...

hmm I haven't got that I won feeling yet, if I did I would probably quit playing. Although there are some key moments of accomplishment that can't go unnoticed.
For example: your first solo 0.0 kill great feeling. soloing lvl 4 missions in an AF, gives an accomplishment feeling. there are countless other times, when I have great sense of accomplishment.
As long as I continue to enjoy it, then I don't think I will get the " I won" feeling. Afterall its about the journey not the end.

hmm it seems we need some conditions to "win eve" so lets set em.
1. to own 1 of each item in eve. 2. to sit in a titan afk for 24 hours in a empire - 0.0 border system like hed-gp. 3. kill each member of the dev team in a non-cheating 1v1 4. visit every system in eve.
i think that should cover wining eve.

Originally by: Stern Maxwell As I stated, doing it for profit, or for the challenge I accept, but killing noob ships, and empty haulers... what the hell is that all about?
It's a fairly low-life thing to do, and its not pirating. Pirates live for profit, not sensless slaughter.
I was senselessly slaughtered in an empty hauler. Send me ISK!
The I Win Button is in fact located on the front of the server, however contrary to popular belief it does not power down the server. In fact it runs a script which deletes everyone but you from the database, and makes it so only you can add people to it.
I intend to win Eve by going to Jove territory and purchasing the Solo Pwn Mobile II, and ganking all of you. In the short term though I am happy enough making a decent profit on small lead charges. ---------- Sorry but that link contains nawty language. -wystler "Discussing moderation is not allowed" - Ivan K "Ranting is prohibited" - Teblin

Someone said it earlier, but being able to login and be surrounded by friends, both in-game and Teamspeak, and have fun doing whatever strikes your fancy.

for me its quite simple.
Surviving until the cluster goes offline, and being around then, with an up-to-date clone, grinning over my riches.

After nearly 3 years of having EVE as a mistress, i have started looking at our relationship as a marrige and you simple do not pnw at beeing married. You have your ups and downs ,smiles and tears.
And she is still there next to you in the bed when you wake up. Even if she looks old and laggy some days.
With Love from Al Haquis

On that note making ransom money WHILE SITTING IN A STATION is definetly winning Eve.
