I'm interested in how you think ship skins will convince new players to start playing eve.

I believe there is added excitment for the opportunity to customize your ship to your personal tastes. The game is starting to get a free to play characteristic with time passing and the kicker of a subscription.

My arguement is that it is a potential turn off to new and old players alike and could lose the demographic.

Excitement is lost when the new content has a price associated to it.

Clothes, skins, whatever you want to call it is additional content to the game. Whether you feel this is of value is up to personal opinion. I fail to see your point young bean.

I will preface the start of this by stating that companies should always look for additional revenue resources to further themselves. But in the next breath, I believe CCP is going about it all the wrong way.

There might be excitement currently for the new ship skins, but I believe it will be shortly lived. With plex prices already fairly high, the proposed aurum market looks less and less appealing for new and old players (never was terribly exciting to begin with).

Rather than charging players, I believe CCP should have added these skins via the LP store generating more interest to play the game and growing new comers. The argument for Eve is that it has a tendency to get stale after a while, and though these new features are awesome, they quickly lose momentum after learning there is a cost involved.

It will be interesting to see a comparison of income from the introduction of this new skin model and its future success one year from now. Similar to buying clothing for your character, it seems to be a one trick pony and a loss of resources, time, and revenue for the company as time progresses.

So Op obviously has 50 Police Comets right? To show CCP that they only support LP skins & not Aur skins?

Terrible as it sounds, Im sure another single Monocle at insane real money price, would have earned them bucketloads more than the entire paintjob project.

People like to buy exclusive stuff, both for themselves as treats, and for their friends for birthdays etc.

And complaints would have been minimal. I mean its no skin off anyone elses nose if someguy has the money to sport a trendy monocle.

I just want alliance logos on ships so we can look kick ass!
