hello all, I am interested in knowing what you all think is the best video released here.
For the purposes of this thread please stick to serious videos and try to cut out the funny ones (such as a certain person singing on teamspeak for isk).

Can't make a complete top 10 list (and definately not in order - too many videos I like!) as I'm at work and can't dig into my videos folder, but I'll list a few off the top of my head that I think are excellent.

Seleene's history of MC movie had my attention better than any video I've seen.. In my opinion it is the best video made yet.

Reasoning? I thought Sels vid was awesome, though i didnt enjoy it as much as the FOE contract. That wouldve been because i was part of FOE at the time though

The Foe vid was nice for those of us who where there when it happened. But apart from that it was just another 3rd person view of just another fleet battle.
Nothing new, nothing inventive. But more importantly nothing that qualifies for any 'best of' award.

The war declaration by Mercenary Coalition on Xetic (at the end of a movie). That was very very nicely done...must've been one of Seleene's vids, just can't remember the title though.

Define what something new and inventive would be then. We've got PVP vids, Storyline vids, Eye-candy vids, comedy vids, even mining and NPCing vids.
All thats been done, tbh I can't think of any other type of vid that you could realistically do. Personally I try to rate vids based on wow factor, general professionalness, quality of the pvp if it applies, soundtrack, and high points for anybody who manages to induce a credible level of suspence before an action sequence.
FOE contract did all of those, tbh it still ranks amoung my favorite vids even though I wasn't playing eve at the time.

I can't really choose a "best" but I'll throw out a few comments.
First, it's very hard to say what the "best" video is. It's really all a matter of style and taste. For example, many people feel that the Evolve CGI movie trailers, while brilliant and beautiful, are not "EVE" videos because they don't use actual footage or cannon (pics) from the game.
What makes something the "best"? For me, it's more about substance than glam or fancy effects. Sometimes, the less text and effects, the better. Personally, I love a good story supported by good editing and music synching. Few people can beat people like Leafo, LL and myself for that.
LoxyRider's movies are great fun to watch because he always manages to do something new every single time.
Big, epic story vids have to walk a fine line because some people just want to see **** blow up. Very few have ever attempted anything like my History vid but those that have earn my respect for it.
Pure PvP vids need to be about more than just things exploding. Farjung and Uggluk both make excellent examples of this. Mitchman's CoC movies do a great job of this as well. Eyeshadow does a great job of showing what combat is like.
As for the FoE Contract video, it attempted to combine all of these elements and is, in my mind, one of the best overall vids ever made. Small ships, big ships, music, story, TeamSpeak, it had it all. The ending (war dec on XETIC) is still one of the best. Here is the original release thread.
Then you have 'EVE Never Fades', which a lot of people don't realize took months of precise editing and review before release. As a result, it's damn near perfect.
Humor? Riz is the master. Dave Tehsulei's vids are a great mix of PvP and humor as well.
I could go on, but that's good for now I think.
