I have a friend that is interested in playing EvE but he is under 18 so he is unable to get a credit card to pay for, so he is going to try to buy timecards with ISK. Is there anyway that he could make 110 million for the timecard in his 14 day trial or if I lent him the money would he be able to make 110 million in the month that he would have?

This is how you do it. If you lend him the money.
Get him to train combat skills. Frigate, small arms, gunnery etc.
Then get some learning skills best get them up to level three.
Then proceed with medium gunnery skills and work on cruisers. During the training of the small arms do LOTS and LOTS of combat missions. Then just beforing starting cruiser investigate some 0.0 alliances and do ratting out in 0.0 you can make an easy 10/20 mill an hour I beleive doing that provided you have BS help etc. --------------

Edited by: Gen Kumon on 09/05/2006 21:13:53 At that point? Not likely. A few months down the line and it wouldn't be that hard, more so with 0.0 access. But that young? It would be...not impossible, but hard as heck. If you're lucky, you might find a corp that's willing to foot the bill for a dedicated member, but that's about as unlikely as him making the cash.

I highly doubt it, but then again, my mate on a trial managed to kill a dread in .4 space and it dropped a +3 implant... so you never know. -=====-

Doing 114 mill ISK per 14 days is not that hard. Not sure it's still true for a totally new char.

Yes he can just join the recruitment channel and join one of these desperate corps and take everything they own in thier hangar or he could convince the corp to give him some ships and hecould sell them and then kill the char and pay you back and then make another char and start fresh

I would say that depends on your friend. in 14days it might be a bit rough to come up with 110m, but its doable with a little starting capital. The first month might also be a bit rocky depending again on how well he/she learns the game. It is doable but not easy.
Now say if you are the type of player that can do level 4 missions you can just drag your friend along on a few of them and they should easily be able to make 110m in 1 month. Or drag them out for some 0.0 ratting for a few days.

Very hard for a new character, especially someone who doesn't know his way around EVE.
But you can pay just fine without a CC--tried PayByCash? You can even mail them money.

Prob his best bet is to get frig 4 on one of the new asian bloodlines, then head for .4 system and just belt hop for dread guristas for 14 days...
It's going to be "boring" but in the end, all he needs is one 'dread gurista invulnerability field" then he is set...
If the trial doesnt work, he can restart it... |

If youre under 18, you can't get credit, but you can get a credit card. His parents can get him a card in his name linked to their account. Or, alternativley, he can open a checking account and get a debit card. I have both of these and I'm under 18.
Of course, be able to play EVE for free via isk is cool in and of itself, but having to gather that much isk just to know that you can play next month might make the game very difficult and un-fun for a while.

Alrighty, a challenge. You need a good solid 10 mil per day. That means, assuming he plays 5 hours per day average over the week (less on week days, more on weekends), he needs to make 2mil per hour but still have enough fun to justify playing. If he spends the first day or so training skills and etting used to the game, earning 2mil/hour is child's play. You can make that much mining veldspar in a cruiser (which you can get into in 1 day if you have the isk). But that's not entertaining.
If he tags along with you on missions, he will get part of the bounties. It detracts from your own earnings so he could perform an important role like collecting your loot for you while still dishing out damage. Perhaps a missile ship would be handy for this?

overdrive/nano/AB in a rifter
he goes in deepspace mission with you, goes up to 50km
you kill, he tractors, he gets the million bounties with you, you get all the loot at his spot
done !
i got friends who did that without the challenge, to go with my tractor beam on their "complex-like" missions, so i could bring all the cans together ______________________

I think he'll still have to pay the initial $20 to buy the game though and that comes with a month.

^ you don't have to, you can go straight from a trial account and then buy a GTC with ISK to activate it properly.

You can't get science V from achura starting choices, not that you need science V for them.

I broke 100m on my 30th day of playing. And I don't play that much and took quite a few days off. 110m in 14 days is not easy, but definitely doable.
FWIW, I made (and make) all my isk by trading.

Yep,
Sure is do-able..
Here is what I suggest..
- Get a Battleship or Battlecruiser (Raven or Ferox.. or even Dominix) - Get your mate into a Sigil or another quick/agile hauler - Get some instant jump bookmarks into 0.0 space - Find a system not on a main route (I'd recommend a system in the Pure Blind region) - Set up some secure cans with ammo and for storage - Hunt for a few days
Pretty easy.. just keep your head down.. set up some safe spots in the system you choose and enjoy yourself. :) You'll come out of it with more then the money for the time cards.
Good luck and if you need some extra pointers. Then send me a mail in game.
- MadBoy
BTW: I recently got my rl mate into the game the same way. :)

Hmm, you all make it sound easy. Im a few months old (about 2.1 mil SP) and work, so at night can make a few mill mining in my barge, but even then im at risk from rats. Its a shame you can make youself a tycoon from ratting as a total beginner, but struggle to make ends-meet as a miner with several months under your belt, cos mining is what i wanna do first and foremost. Had my ferox blown up in 0.2 simply warping through a roid belt (not stopping) cos the pirates are so fast and know their trade inside out (yes, maybe equipping 4 WCS's woulda prevented this, but i was just passing through).
Going in 0.0 as a triallee..hmph, not alone, and alot of the cash u make at first has gotta go on weapons, ships and insurance.

Edited by: Oro Masut on 10/05/2006 06:22:29 It is absolutely possible. 2 ways, both work, one depends a bit on your luck.
1) The Path of Luck - Since he has to save as much momey as possible, make him Amarr, start out with Frig 4. First ship you buy is a Executioner. This little bish can handle 2 x 90k cruiser easily, even with low skills. Once he has enough money, he should get a Punisher. He has to head out into 0.4 and 0.3 and rat as hell, trying to have luck on rare spawns and rare loot. But if he works this for the whole 14 days, it should get the job done.
PROS : With a bit o' luck, fast money, lots of fun, interesting, very good learning for basic combat tactics and low-sec mechanics.
CONS : With no luck, he will get podded alot, become frustrated, has no rares = low isk
2) The Constant Path - Start out with Frig 4, i suggest an Amarr too, b/c if i remember correctly, the Bestower has the largest Industrial Cargo for Indy 2. Start training towards Industrial and Trading skills and T R A D E.....alot. Take your time and make use of the marketplace settings and mechanics to work out short, safe and profitable trading routes. Don't waste any money on expensive modules, train and use only Afterburners, Overdrive Injector, Cargo Expander. For 14 days, the cheap stuff is more than enough.
PROS : Pretty constant isk, safe
CONS : Boring ;-) ...but hey, it is labour for him to support his account...so get over it
WCS gimps your fighting abilty. Make your choice BEFORE you undock. Do not complain about a lost ship ever, if you fit for running and go fighting with it |
