I, like many people undock and set my FOV as wide as possible as I feel the default value FOV is far too narrow.
Can we have a slider in the [Esc] menu to set a default value rather than having to change it every time I play manually? |

I think you're referring to the zoom level - there isn't a FOV setting.
But don't worry - someone at CCP fiddles with it every single release - it'll be different in the next major patch.
It does tend to remember your zoom setting after you've undocked and set it manually, but it'll forget it the next time you log on. I thought it was supposed to remember it for each individual ship - can't remember right now if it does.
Would you want this default "zoom" level to override any individual ship level, or do you just want it to remember where you set it? If the latter, one setting per ship, or one setting for all ships?

It' might actually be a zoom level, I'm not sure. If you control key + both mouse buttons, up and down affects zoom but side to side seems to either zoom out more or adjust viewing angle. It could just be both at the same time however making a more fisheye appearance.
I think one setting for every ship would be a good start as it's a camera setting really, it may not work for larger ships but in small gang I find it really useful to see as much as possible on my screen. |

It's not the zoom, you should try it. I've used this for quite some time. Hold Ctrl then both left and right mouse buttons in and and move your mouse.
It's a hidden FOV setting not many know of. But if someone can suggest a better term for it, like say depth of view, that's fine also.
Destination SkillQueue:- It's like assuming the lions will ignore you in the savannah, if you're small, fat and look helpless. |

To understand the effect better, try it at a station undock. Good Lord, so it is. Never knew about that. It's kind of like a zoom-to-background effect. I knew about the temporary version, where you hold down right-mouse-button, move slightly off-axis, then also hold down left-mouse-button and move backwards and forwards, but I didn't realise you could do that permanently.
Found a video that demonstrates that (amongst other things) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkoAdfiSc98 (and that prompted me to try out the advanced camera settings, but that seems a bit fiddly for day-to-day use)
It would be nice to have a little more control over camera settings (both on-the-fly usage and default settings).

The next time you feel like your space station is too small, turn off the fisheye effect by adjusting the FOV. You'll see very quickly just how gigantic those things really are. |
