seems to me.. BOB did it.. and now ASCN are doing it.
EC- bob packed 600 people into system.. it was effectivly locked down. Even if someone could ralley 600 people.. The current game mechanics can not handle a jump in.. or even a battle of that magnitude yet. So therefore.. EC- Fell with basicly no battle.
Paragon soul now. ASCN 200+ Pilots Plus capital ships.. Pending Tribes could muster 200 pilots to Even the odds.. The server cant handle it and it would crash and burn.
So therefore.. Its a mute point to even try and Fight someone that has you outblobed enough so that you dont even think to fight back.
Winning wars with no battles..
Must seem like fun huh :/
take in mind... ASCN might have 200 pilots working in paragon to lockdown the place so they can take all the stations...
what happens when those pilots want to return home and the people you put in paragon soul to "live" have to require a perma military force because.. well you really cant get rid of the people who lived there before you because you never got them to fight... they are simply laying in wait untill your big Hoot and Ha parade of a huge blob goes away..
The story will continue on.. ______________________ I am the carebear...

Just because you can't remove a 600 person fleet (holy crap), doesn't mean you can't put 50 people in their system costing them money. |

In ec- the big blob wasnt just BoB it was mostly us.
Ec- also had battles, one in which G/Iron jumped in completely outnumbered and lost shedloads, and one in which G/Iron attacked ASCN campers after BOB had left and spanked us.

Iirc wasn't it ASCN who provided most of the blobbage in EC and locked it down for BoB to wreck havoc on stations and POS? These tactics are certainly nothing new by now.
It's my belief that ASCN could certainly manage to field more ships for an assault, but when it comes down to it, is it really needed? If TS can field 200 ships as you said, they haven't bothered to do so, thus ASCN sees no need to back up their existing forces.

How do you know, until you jump in and try?
I can assure you, there are systems and process's available to you that will dramatically reduce your vulnerability at a jump-in.

FYI , although we seiged EC for days with crap load of bubbels at every gate and staion and not less than 40 to 50 ships at each gate , G managed to slip in a force of 10 to 20 BS and kept eluding us to warp in and snipe our bubbels , this was one of the times that G earned my respect coz they did find a way to break an insane blackade and coem to make a stand for it. As for the game mechanics ofc the bigger Blob has the upper hand since in D7 while FE were being pounded G/IRON/Razor had the same thing and we lost many ships to the jumps but we managed to break through eventualy but with lots of unecessary losses due to game mechanics cant handle 150 man jumping into a system packign 300 + peeps.

It's something of a problem yes.
However, since it is based on a technical limitation mainly, there's little to be done about it that wouldn't break more then it fixes.
If you factor out the role of lag, there is no problem. Numbers mean strength, if you can't defend against greater numbers you lose. It's a given everyone knows about when they start building infrastructure in 0.0. You just gotta factor that risk into your planning and make sure to have a fast return-on-investment for your pos's and outposts
Really, numbers can't be balanced for tbh. Nor should be.

With the limitations of lag, it becomes very important to strategically plan fleet movements around it.
In theory, this should favor the defender, whose fleet should be quicker to respond and have logistics closer by than the attacker. Combined with the power of the POS guns (as long as it isn't in reinforced mode, which is quite possible seeing as it has just been attacked), kicking somebody out of their most populated system seems like a very difficult task.
Unless you can't muster the fleet, of course. Or if the enemy can wear it away without attacking en-masse. ------------------------------------------- "Never underestimate the power of language."

I have yet to see any system I have been in with a local higher than 200... mayb approaching 100 in h8, but thats about it, hell our FC moved us to a easy choke point location on purpose to try to pick a fight. But the most losses on our side are us getting cought by lone pilots if we fly around alone. also i have never had any jump lag upon entering h8 this entire time. Heck the whole PS place has had little or no lag to me whatsoever. ASCN can blob you, but come fight AXE pweeeze Because NAverin, its not fun at all
Its also quite pretty, way better on the looky chart than Impass.
As to never being able to root you out, as a from a military point, you only get one podding before you have to start humping it down from empire or some other friendly station no? That at least adds annoyance to the process of a harrying force.

So according to you PS will be PVP heaven after we take it? If I fly to MP5 once we're done I can expect Naverin & Co. to entertain us with some interesting fights? Beats flying 70+ jumps up north if you ask me
About the blobbing thing, well, why should we (or any force) waste precious time doing something as boring as taking stations/outposts if 200/600/800 people could do it in a fraction of the time? There's a difference between "fun" PVP (*cough* Dirtball *cough*) and having a larger goal such as this PS siege. As with everything in life, adapt or die
And in my experience larger fleet battles are possible after the server upgrade. At least 100 vs. 100 fights shouldn't be too laggy if you plan it correctly...

I hear you! But if it is any comfort the blob isn't having that much fun. I remember taking part in the ec blob thing and i have to say that was total waste of time. People patting each other on the backs saying "wow we sure can blob" and warps in a 100 man fleet as soon as the gate activated. Boring as hell and I'm glad Im not taking part in those kind of ops ever again.
But then again if it is miners that blob they might have fun because their standards aren't very high.

Having been a part of a number of the 'fun' fights against ASCN and lots of other entities, I am positive that even at an alliance level, people still enjoy fighting for the sport of it.
That said, when it comes to capturing space for your empire, it's about acheiving a goal, not fun fights. Its a means to an end, so you can get back to the 'fun' quicker. :)

I disagree that there is any "i win" button for a single battle because of how reinforced mode works. You do not need even numbers to counter someone attacking your pos's. All it requires is the right combination of a good pos setup, lots of interdictors, a few carriers, and a good battleship fleet.
When hostile dreads are attacking your pos's the place to make your stand is before they get them in reinforced mode. If they successfully get them in reinforced mode your done. If you can keep the hostile dreads at your pos with interdictor bubbles untill they run out of stronth you have a very good chance of killing their dreads allowing you to keep the rest of your pos's and win the battle. This does not require that you out blob them. It just requires that you play it smart.
Now if your enemy can keep there assult up on a permanent basis and you can not continue to put up this type of defense then perhaps they deserve the region more than you. If they have 200ppl to constantly populate a system while you only have a handfull then shouldnt they get it?
Finite siege mode durations + pos's being unkillable untill they come out of reinforced mode means you have all the time in the world to kill their dreads as long as you have the interdictors to keep them bubbled. Doesnt matter if they bring 4 dreads or 40.
This particular game mechanic makes eve more so than ever ballanced against against a hostile force bringing in a 1 day show off fleet to capture a region. Who ever has the most staying power will win a system siege if both sides play it properly. This is how it should be.
So WTS - T3 tissue to anyone complaining about blobs. |

Well until CCP can figure a way out to dynamically handle server loads, Its time for some sort of agreement about keeping fleets down to a non-crashing size?
I mean.. Who has fun during 600 man fleet engagements anyways? f1... 5 minutes later...f2..
