I have been out there recently... it looks really cool compared to other backgrounds. I am just kind of wondering why no corp took it over... It is funny how people have left containers out there to leave their mark.

I just visited New Eden and it was a waste of a trip. I saw the bright light and I went towards it. About 30 minutes later the light didn't seem any bigger. It's just apart of the background, not worth the trip.
I was hoping for my little shuttle to get destroyed or something, but nope, Nothing.

The gate is not a background. You can position your ship over the light from the gate, and still see the light. |

well, either way, I tried to fly towards the light and nothing happened.

Using the same logic, you could fly towards the sun from a planet and say that the sun does not exist because you cannot reach it at sub-light speeds.

I'm about 16.8AUs from the gate into eve, the "bright spot" fills half the screen and the camera shake is unbearable.
i haven't seen a can in a long time.
