Has anyone reached the EVE Gate itself? Can you be "torn apart by magnetic storms of the EVE Gate"? If you can reach it, how far is it to get there?
Just curious,

Beleive its jsut a part of the background texture in teh system and can't be reached. And no, no getting torn apart, thugh they should put that in. Would be fun. --------------

It's low sec, so there's more chance of an industrial being blown up than Tiki bringing the "8-ball, corner pocket".

When I first started, I read the background story. I thougt "cool, I'm going to start a research char, buy a research ship and fix the wormhole!". How stupid I was back then...
But, it would be cool if the Eve Gate would be a real gate that is approachable instead of a dull backdrop. And get torn apart in horrific magnetic storms. And build a ship as strong as possible, as to survive as long as possible... And in the end build a ship that can actually get to the other end of the wormhole (and DAMN, get lost in the China cluster, ghehe!!)
O well, back to work... Cheers, Ta'el. |

The EVE gate should be a set of two warpable targets. The first would be the Servant Sister of EVE research base which observes the wormhole. The second would be the gate itself, and generally result in you exiting warp amid an electrical maelstrom that would tear your ship apart.

As a note on the second warpable target: it should let you live long enough to enjoy the beauty of such a storm... Or dump you about a 100kms from the storms due to warpcollapse. Cheers, Ta'el. |

I'm currently moving towards the 'bright light' of the wormhole...
To be honest, the scanner kicks up nothing at extreme range, but the 'wormhole' isn't painted on the backdrop.. it is an object in space, as it moves against the backdrop when you travel between the gate, the star and the planet.
There are a number of cans that suggest a mission was mounted a week or so ago to get to the gate. I would love to contact anyone who joined up with that group...
I'm hoping there is SOMETHING at the end of this journey... doing the math means I have another day to reach the furthest can I have detected... I hope there is something else beyond it...
CCP, if you are listening... if there is nothing there, there should be something that APPEARS... soon.

If it was possible to get torn apart by the gravity well it would be hilarious if the gravity well was so strong it disrupted the capsuleer reaching his new clone body aswell...could become the suicide hotspot of the universe.

No way, won't happen, even in irl year 2200. Why ? Because it's too far, and only one guy can be the closest of the gate a t a given time, bookmark, sleep for a while, whereas another guy warp to the bookmark and travel to the gate.
Warp are made at about 60x the light speed, with a 10km/sec ship you only go at 0.01% of c... So good luck, it won't happen in your current irl life :)

Wouldn't humanity on the other side be so far advanced as to be able to crush us, now? I mean, they didn't get tossed back into the ice age.... so far as we know.

I had an idea which has some substance to it. Ultimately, human advancement would allow us to cause stars to go nova. I hypothesized that after developing this sort of superweapon, the human megacorps had the equivalent of a nuclear exchange. In the process, they probably destroyed half the stars in the Milky Way.
If we could reach the other side, we would find a devastated galaxy. In a few million years, stars will start to form from the gigantic nebulae.

Maybe. IIRC, the collapse of the wormhole on this side caused a chain reaction in the gate network, which isolated the various settled planets. The same could have happened on the other side, too.
