Insured implants would be nice, but it doesnt stop me from going into 0.0 or not.
Infact, I've been dodging blobs just last night in Syndicate. I use them, and I risk it, the extra training time is fun. If theres a sticky fight, though, I wont go in against very poor odds.

Originally by: Dhin Xar Implants have to be one of the worst things in the game. Gee, lets reward people for never doing anything exciting. Jumpclones can only be used once every 24 hours, meaning after you jump out of your implant clone you have to wait a day to get back in, and then you have to wait another day if you once again need to do something interesting.
For the love of all that is moronic there needs to be equivalent effects for use where getting podded (lag, etc) is a real danger. Unless they are truely meant as a grand-prize for being boring.
So true. Both implants and learning skills ultimately result in making the game a hell of a lot more boring than it needs to be.

Exactly, what do you mean by insurance? If it's like ship insurance, then.. You sure you want to insure your 1 bil worth snake omega for instance for 1 mil which its base cost is? Or something like that anyway.

QFT
Base price on a +4 perception implant is 400k, so adding implant insurance will be pointless, like insuring tech 2 ships.

Not true at all. I use jump clones regularly and have not lost implants yet. Only way I know of to lose implants is to jump out of a station you already have an implanted jump clone at.
If anyone wants jump clones, please contact me. My service is 15 mil ISK and you can read the details in my sig. You will be able to install up to 5 clones and can switch to and from your implanted clone easily.
Yup this man knows what he is talking about and i can confirm this as a jumpclone specialist. MicanG's jumpclone Service

Never used implants and probably never will.
Implants do nothing but hold you back from fully enjoying the game.
Remember kids skillpoints is one of the least important things in EVE.

what do implants have to do with skillpoints? especially for slots 6+.
oh and consider this - if you install two very cheap implants - 5% to specific turret type damage and +3% to all turrets damage, that'd be about 8% more damage you deal... that's pretty decent for such easy to replace stuff...

Implants are fine -- but just treat them like ships. If you can afford to lose +2's use +2's. If you can afford to use +4's use +4's. Profit.
Oh and insuring them is out of the question -- terrible idea. Griefing would be like totally ruined.

Ok so what makes them an isk sink?
You can't explain because they arn't.
Please ppl don't use this term for everything that costs money because it's a very specific term for money leaving the player economy.
There, i just contributed nothing to your thread |

Would insuring implants be a terrible idea? (Let's just pretend that it could be possible for the sake of argument).
If you aren't rich, buy cheaper implants.
And yes, insuring them would be a ****ty idea.

Doesnt the Eve intergaltic bank provide unusual insurance options if you're a member with good credit standing with them? Might be worth checking out, I'm sure you could work something out to get them insured.

I like that EVE has a minimum of death handholding. Things are more meaningful when you can lose them. Plus if you're filthy rich or just crazy you can brag about flying with a full Halo set or whatever.

Offers that require you to buy a bunch of NPC trade goods in exchange for them, make them an ISK sink. Not much of one, because most people wait till they get the implant-for-free offers ... but they are an ISK sink. ________________________________________________

Edited by: Plutoinum on 13/05/2006 09:01:29 If something like 10 percent advantage in skill training is more important to you than having some action and fun, then something is wrong with your priorities anyway
I'm lacking implants since I got podded last time, because I don't have the money and the time for a shopping tour. I've stopped my training for dreads anyway to train for interdictors and minmatar hacs, a few days in my training plan of 3 months or so make no big difference.
I do what I want without thinking much about my implants. When I have the money and time to go shopping, I plug in some new. Until then I play without. No big difference, because skill training is not the most important part of the game, I mean it's not the reason why I play.

No. I like Eve raw.
Theres already 5000 games on the market where the game becomes your mommy and make sure you never lose anything.
I love the harshness, this is not everquest in space.
Without the harsh penalties Eve would be so slow and boring, I would prolly give up MMORPG's altogether because they are all garbage except this one.
I tried the Auto Assault 14 day trial. When your car dies you press a button and 10 seconds later you show up at a repair place brand new. And thats PVE.
If thats the future of gaming, you can count me out. They keep pandering to the lowest common denominator to get more subscriptions, you cant find 1 decent game, they are all made for morons.
