I logged off in Amarr the other day and it was nice enough but basically just very bright from what I remember. Today it seems the coloring seems more intense with more dark and cloud effects. Parts of it are still very bright but the lighting seems more dramatic. I could just be crazy though. Anyone else notice any nebula changes? Anyone in Lonetrek perhaps? |

Looks like all of them received some color adjustments. Lonetrek is definitely less eye straining now. |

I think stars were added, and some were drawn closer and farther, making it look very much alive. |

Well I just wanted to add that it looks amazing. I mean I was already really impressed with the new nebulae the way they were but now if all of them look as good as Amarr did people who haven't been on Sisi are going to go insane when this goes live.
I tried to check out other systems but all the systems I tried to jump to were down and then the server went down. Anyway very exciting updates today. |

The new stars are actually adjacent systems <---
Did I read that right? CCP actually made something like this?

Actually, raven, oracle, naga and talos looking sweet!
Directed stargates thing is fabulous - really helps bring it all alive, but seriously, warp through a planet |

The Nebulae have been colour graded in this update; we also have a star field that represents the stars of neighbouring solar systems.
Additionally as already pointed out in the above post, the star gates now point correctly to the system you're jumping to.

The more real the feel, the more reason i can just enjoy it all apart from the action. I came for the graphics, and stay for the action. Graphics count when I look at games and Eve is way beyond anything else.
+1 Thanks
.... gates are like roids, dont give in to beer camping
now lets welcome the high sec in with open arms, err open gates, then slowly close the doors behind them... hooked on excitement again...... while the old carebear and camper doze zzzzzzzz ! |

Go to a gate, line it up so you watch through it to the destination star. Now open the star map, align it so you are looking to that same star. Compare the two views and you'll see how the systems on the starmap match stars on the background for at least a few jumps. It's probably based on distance in LY... unless they went all the way and you can see all systems from everywhere
Now the only thing we need is the cyno effect to shoot you in the right direction too |

But if your description is right (I have not been on sisi since yesterday), it seems some might have taken a hint from my post here: eve stars on new nebulas from the nebula feedback thread.

CCP Vertex, I found a gate that was not pointing at any star at all. I think it was a region jump gate. Should it have been pointing at a star? Are stars in regions other than the one I am in being shown? Want a bug report?
It would be nice if all stars in all regions were shown.... CCP employees should never proclaim a feature to be awesome. Only subscribers should. Subscribers can never answer a question posed to CCP. Only CCP can. |

Which gate?
With the new F12 bug report there are no excuses for not bug reporting stuff now

Since we're on the topic of nebulae, I'm going to quote a post I made for the general expansion discussion thread.

A resolution upgrade would be out of the question at this late point as it would require new renders and a whole set of new performance testing. The quality may improve as the graphics programmers look more into the compression algorithms. CCP-áVertex -á|-á Art Quality Assurance-á | -áTeam Trilambda |

ok... and can you compress it less? that would solve the problem... how much bigger it would be? and... can you tell me how large are uncompressed??? :)

Saw a few numbers the source raw was like 400mb render captures for Each One. The entire model is probably couple gigs massive.

Ah, I figured a resolution upgrade would be unrealistic at this stage, but it would be great if we get get those nebulae a little less compressed to solve the blocky issues.

A lot of the blockiness seems to be a result of the fact that the textures are using an 8 bit colorspace. This creates banding/artifacting that is kind of needless. Any chance we could at least get 16 bit colorspace on the backgrounds? |

Yeah it's really obvious on my monitor, I was excited for new nebulae just so the background would look sharp but as amazing as these new nebulae are, the blockiness kinda ruins it. |

Echoing that. Some of the nebulae just lift the game to a new level. But in other nebulae the colour banding is the worst you'll see in the game, and it's always there to be seen. |
