Unfortunately, this is the kind of messy outcome that is to be expected when a company has poor direction. A hard pill to swallow for those who lost their jobs. In retrospect, if so much resources were being spent on this project, perhaps this is good news now for the EVE universe, which has been left ticking-over for far too long. Cosmetic updates to one or two ships each expansion simply aren't going to cut it anymore, core game mechanics (namely sov & POS mechanics) are in need of a huge overhaul, and have been for years. |

Ah, fair enough. The again, a few years ago, there were great hopes for both so neither was really up for cancellation. If anything the summer of '11 put a bigger dent in the WoD development than in Dust, since the tech demo that was WiS got such a bad reception.

We know the value in the IP and are going to be reviewing the status of it in the near future. There aren't any plans for it at present.

Hopefully it's only a temporary mothballing rather than a full-fledge binning of the dream. I still believe that CCP can make a WoD MMO happen, even if it's not going to happen yet.
In my opinion, focusing on only a single IP is a risky move: all the eggs are back in a single basket now, and I don't think that's sensible for a company that wants to grow. Even if the IP in question is a successful and growing one like EVE, things change, and diversity is a hedge against the unexpected.
It would be nice to know WHY the project had to be shelved, though. Were the challenges technical, artistic, financial? And what can the community do to try and bring our vampires back from the dead?

Is there the chance of a non MMO game coming out of this? I still play Bloodlines (on my non windows 7 PC as I cant get it to work for ****) and that game is years old.
