So Ive been watching the character sales board and I've decided I wanted to give making a char for sale a try... I think Ill do a high faction standing char but I have a couple of questions on the skill plan, and if I should pursue a few skills as well.
Initial development: before I mess with my attributes at all I was planning on getting to the level I could operate say an amarr destroyer with all lvl 1 equipment, so tracking link, heat sink, light energy beam, energy rigging 1, and a mwd I dont think that should take too much, I wont invest time to go past the basics needed so I wont max the skills or anything but that should allow me to do all the training missions needed for both applicable factions After this I was going to train cloaking 4 and industry 5 followed by industrial 5 and the transport ship skill
*note* Im looking at the faction repair plan for maxing standings asap.... so I figure thsi char could do all lvl 1 and probably lvl 2 missions without any issues then when I get to epic arcs or cosmos missions Ill have to bring my main and then on the new char I could use a cloaky transport ship to avoid ganks in the lowsec areas Id have to travel through in cosmos and such
So I guess the first question I have would be ... is that a good plan to get to a point where I could max out my standings with whatever faction I decide
second question... after I got the initial training done I was going to change my stats into charisma and work on my social standings so I could start grinding my standings, after which I was going to do either trade, or corp management....
So which would be better, or would both be wise if I was going to sell this char?
Last question.... Is PI worth it... if I go ahead and do transport ships I figured it may be smart to go ahead and make this a PI char as well...
Last Last question: Do you see anything I left out or any massive holes in my plan? Thanks... I'm kinda new to this :) |

If you're going to sell the character, you should dedicate it to something. Trade, combat, mining, manufacturing, freighter/JF, etc. Pick a focus or multiple that relate. Like Trade+freighter. Or Orca+manufacturing. Nolen's Spreadsheet Guru Services: Need a spreadsheet created, maintained, updated or repaired? I know nothing about training a character for sale.
I just want to point out that...
It takes something like 3-4 months to have level 3 in everything (ship, weapons, tank, core) for everything from frigate to battleship of every race.
Specialization (level 5, which also leads to T2 ships / weapons) is the real time sink. |

well if Im g oing to do the standings repair plan dont I need at least a lil combat ability?
As for trade/freighter that sounds good, especially since transport ships wouldnt be that hard which the last time I did cosmos I remember a lot of ganks in lowsec so ya |

the sales tend to be for 1) a pure miner (train for exhumers) 2) a frieghter/jf pilot (train for that dont waste time on other things) 3) dread pilot/supper carrier pilot. Dont waste skill points, go learn to sit in the hull and fly it. Train support skills while waiting for the sale. 4) a tengu pilot for pve.
anything else will probably sell for the right price, but the above 4 is what people are looking for mass produced. remember more ISNT better. If its not useful to the role it wont add to the price of the character.

Focused Titan or a SC sitter, JF chars and trader as well...
but don't try it, if you cannot live without 5-10B ISK bond to a char that won't sell in a few seconds. Take the time, train meanwhile support skills and don't sell the char to cheap...
to earn 1B ISK with a 6 months old char is possible :)
But the real char bazar nerds won't tell you how to do so! |

Don't share rewards when you complete. Zappity's Adventures for a taste of lowsec. |
