Edited by: Jimmycs83 on 15/05/2006 09:41:57 The torp raven just does too much dmg ... look at this (posted by a dev in the blaster thread) Linkage This is assuming a target with 350m signature radius and transversal velocity of 125m/sec
Torp raven outdamages all other BSs when there is even a tiny amount of transversal ... imo torp raven should just be made ALOT less effective vs targets with a decent speed up (something relative to what other BSs can do) .. this would mean they should have to get close and web - or have a gang mate do it - like all other BSs. Torps should also take a small dmg decrease.

and if u extend that graph to 126km
tbh i dont really mind that they can hit so far out ... just that torp raven outdamages a blaster-mega at close range with a small amount of transversal .. then you add in the fact that to use neutrons like the graph then you cant fit a decent tank on mega and its just widens the gaps between the two ships. From what i can tell its pretty much the same with the other BSs.

This is incorrect.
AC Tempest Setup:
6 dual 650 II 2 heavy diminishing nos
1 100MN AB II 1 faint 20km scrambler 1 fleeting web 1 hypnos multispectral jammer 1 heavy electrochem cap injector
2 large accomodation armor rep 2 energized adaptive nano II 2 gyrostab II
Note the full tank, full rack of the all-around best autocannons (at least until they do something about 800 clip size), and jamming capability.
Megathron post- blaster changes (this may fit with tech II, since it has CPU and grid left):
7 mega modal neutron blaster 1 medium diminishing nosferatu
1 quad LiF MWD 1 faint 20km scrambler 1 fleeting web 1 heavy electrochemical cap injector
1 large armor rep II 1 1600mm rolled tungsten plate 2 energized adaptive nano II 1 RCU II 2 magnetic field stabilizer II
Note the damage mods, tank, and full rack of the highest DPS short-range weapons in the game.
I do not fly armageddons much, so I cannot give you an exact setup, but the 'geddon can do pretty much the same thing as the megathron setup I posted. Just ask Kinsy, whose 'geddon would've beaten my raven if he hadn't fired about two seconds after I did.
which is exactly what i said - in order to repair nwhere near the amount of dmg taken in a close range fight you NEED atleast a dual large 'accom' repper setup - this is why you see every mega pilot (pretty much) flying either with 6 neutrons or seven electrons with dual rep setup. Ill repeat it again so you understand .. then you add in the fact that to use neutrons like the graph then you cant fit a decent tank on mega. Basically anyone saying torp raven is not overpowered is in denial.

I guess you're not aware of the fact that a plate is actually better than a second repairer when the fight duration is a minute or less. In addition, the setup I posted can fit two large reps if you want to remove the damage mods (at which point its DPS will be comparable to the raven's, IIRC). The setup I posted breaks 1000 DPS, IIRC, which is significantly more than a max-skilled raven.
yes i do know .. and yes you can fit dual rep and gank with same dmg as raven - but then you still have to get to 1km - you still can rep less dps you still cant fit e-war as you need a webber also unless you want to go back to the graph with 125m/s transversal where raven outdamages everything - you also cant hit at 100km plus like torp raven. I seriously cant belive you can actually look at the facts and think this is balanced.

The raven can't fit EWAR either without sacrificing its tank. ECM jammers and shield tanking mods both use midslots, remember? Also, your megathron has a large drone bay - use it to field 5 heavy ECM drones and your target is unlikely to ever lock you.
i was trying to say you have the option of fitting ewar (someting most other close range pilots cant because of the need for a MWD - something you dont need - and therefore a cap injector also - along with a webber) not that you can tank, gank and fit e-war.
Also i do have some other those drones and find them very useful - however i find that with BS lvl5 (taking a tracking bonus from the mega) and motion prediction lvl5 and a 90% webber i still need to use heavy webber drones so i can hit HACs and cruisers orbiting at 500m - which brings me back to the intial point i made which is that the toprs should be made less effective vs moving targets and have the dmg reduced (due to the fact that they can hit further out) to bring them inline with other battlesships close range weapons.
nb im reckon those drones are going to get nerfed along with jammers btw so its not exactly like you can say that an extra few hundred m3 drone bay space makes the ships balanced

Originally by: cytomatrix You must be one of those noobs who get pwned by n00b ravens. I have seen an one year old pilot in Tempest tank two year old pilot in torp raven. Both of them where outlaws so dont tell me raven pilot was a noob. Tbh, if you think Raven is overpowered you need to unistall this game. I have a better idea of balancing turrets and missiles. Dont let ships fitted with missiles attack ships fitted with guns. So you can only fight a turret ship in another turret ship. . Does that sound balanced to you? jeez
so basically your agrument is smack smack i saw this once (no proof for anything) smack smack. Seems to me the theme with caldari pilots here apart from Wrayeth who is atleast providing sensible arguments. If you have nothing to add apart from please dont nerf my overpowered ship or some rude comment maybe just dont post.
