Been getting my feet wet in ECM ships lately, and have even managed to fend off a couple attacks in my Blackbird, but I have always had one question:

I see various fits with race specific jammers, for obvious reasons. But my question is, why do I see a lot of fits with like 2 reds, 2 blues, 1 green and 1 yellow (just and example). Or some with with like 2 blues, 2 greens and 2 yellows, but no reds (just another example).

Is this just based on personal preference based on where in the galaxy somebody is living in? So they are likely to encounter more Gallente ships in Gallente space for example?

Or is there something else to it that I am missing all together?

racial jams are based on what people expect to encounter and racial jams are more likely to hit the multispectural jams.
Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if your in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up.

If you get into a small gang fight, chances are your opponents have a mixed racial composition of ships in their fleet. Rainbow jam fits are ideal there.

To elaborate on the above, the reason you'll see two jammers of two types and one each of the other two is that the person flying the ship expects to encounter boats of the two-jammer sensor type more frequently.

For example, if you're flying in smaller gangs and your ECM role is to cripple the remote repper ships, you might wager that you're more likely to run into the RR ships that run best independently (the Gallente and Minmatar ones) than the ones that rely on cap transfer to run their highest-output builds at stable. In large fleets you might wager on the opposite.

(Note that if you're running medium -> small ship gangs it's much more random since racial frigates are completely interchangeable and destroyers/cruisers have enough overlap you'll see close to an even mix. In that case you'll likely pick the two modules to double up on just form personal experience on what you're seeing the most often in space.)
