I discovered something over the weekend. A tower in 're-inforced' mode, doesn't count for sovereignty.
Now, I was under the impression that 're-inforced' was to prevent timezone ping-pong, and to give you time to muster a reaction.
However, if you make an assault just before downtime, knock the towers into re-inforced, then you can immediately afterwards conquer an outpost or conquerable station.
Surely this isn't intentional? I don't have a problem with sov being lost if your tower is popped, this seeems entirely reasonable - they've put it into re-inforced, and you've had the re-inforced timer to 'respond' (or let them go).
This is especially problematic if you have more than a day of re-inforced in each, as you can't even put up more towers to 'reclaim' sovereignty, as it takes 5 days.
Oh, and _please_ can that bug about renaming stations and outposts be fixed? -- We are recruiting

it has always been that way. and nobody prevents you from retaking the station in your timezone, since the enemy won't have sov by then. station ping pong 4TW. it's not that hard, because once a stations shields are down, it takes almost forever to recharge them. so you don't even have to go all the way. ---------------- (\_/) (O.o) (> <) This is an alien dressed as Bunny to secretly gain world domination. ...if you don't know Happy Tree Friends, just imagine Teletubbies on LSD... |

If you manage to destroy all of the POS's, then Sov can go away. However, so long as the POS guns can still fire, which they do until the force field bubble goes down, the POS should still contribute to Sov. The entire concept of reinforced mode is to give a defender time to properly defend. I hate Ping Pong. HATE IT, do you hear?? -

Edited by: The Enslaver on 15/05/2006 14:15:20 Intentional, afaik...
And why should a half-dead POS count for sovereignty? So what if they get the station; if they can't finish off the POS's; you get it back the next day or so.
Should stay as is imo. Especially with the current 'lets use the stront to put it out of reinforced at 5AM EVETime then bring in a fleet of ospreys' method.
I'd be up for it only they they tripled the cost of towers again. Still too cheap, considering the cost of removing them. --------

you mean in response to the "lets shoot up all their pos with they are sleeping and be to lazy to come around and finish it off" method?

Hehe, I got to 'learn' this the hard way too. Posted last week here in 'POSes and Player Conquerable Stations - things I learned this week' topic, should have had a better title I guess.
So anyway, I can confirm you didn't run into an odd bug applying only to you - it's written that way right now. Now, whether they mean it to be or not, I'm not sure. ---

Nothing wrong with one day of station pingpong. I full endorse the urrent mechanics where you lose sovereignty after your pos's go into reinforced mode. That's simply how it is and how it should be in order to make sure we don't end up with a station siege taking weeks on end. There's mroe to life then shooting POS. As logn as the defender brings a fleet he'll be able to defend at least ONE pos won;t he ?
If not, well, bad luck, try again tomorrow ?

You keep using that word, but I do not think it means what you think it means.
not conceivable: as a : impossible to comprehend b : UNBELIEVABLE
Well, The dictionaries seem to support the use of the word in this context.
Without the devs telling us about the philosophies behind the different game mechanics all we can do is to write about questionable effects on the forum, and maybe to drop in a line to the GM in form of 'ask a question' or a bugreport. But the latter options do not really help as we either aren't allowed to spread the knowledge, or there's no feedback. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. Some people miss quotes because movies generally aren't shown in English where they live.
Quotes including the source is a good idea for that reason. Thanks for adding it. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |
