(or a less moronic name).
*cough* now that I have your attention, I was thinking about a dreadnaught sized ship that doesn't shoot but eat it's prey. It will be able to fit 2 kind of modules in high:
- a special kind of strip miner that slowly consumes its target. Minerals will be added in the Stripper's cargo hold
- Specialized large traktor beams that can pull and immobilize ships as large as a battleship
Perhaps a silly idea but what the hey

I could get behind this idea, but ONLY if it looks like a massive shark, or some kind of giant worm with lots of crazy teeth. Sounds fun.

The thread has basically everything related to capital sized mining and based on the response I've got people really like it. It's a long read but I believe you'd agree with it once you get thru it.

A scavenger vessel for docking with other ships then taking it apart for base componants would be nice. Using it for actual combat, hmm, perhaps if the target ships shields have been taken out prior and it's jammed and brought to an almost complete halt, presenting minimal danger to the whaler ship.

wasnt there also summat liek that in the original star trek? only that ate planets as well as ships, pretty cool idea tho, a ginat sized ship actually munching its way through a fleet/asteroid belt lol
