Well it looks like the crash has something to do with accessing a texture file.
Try downloading this file Linkage
Unzip and overwrite your resTextures.stuff file in C:\Program Files\CCP\Eve with the downloaded file. Your version may be corrupt.
I'm not familiar with Eve .dmp files and if they would contain readable text or just a hex dump though. Could you check and see what those crash files you have listed contain? You should be able to open the files with notepad.
Let me know if there's some readable text in there and maybe it will help. But try downloading that file I linked for you and maybe that will stop the problem. ----------------------------------------------- Hard work MAY pay off later, but procrastination always pays off now! |

Thanks for checking, I'm not sure if I'd be able to properly understand them at this point.
I noticed in your other post you noted your computer specs.
Alienware Area 51m Pent 830 Dual Core 3.0ghz x-fi Soundblaster 70gig raptor hd 2 geforce 7800gtx 512meg graphics cards sli enabled
I haven't personally used a SLI system myself, but you noted SLI is enabled. Is there an option to disable it for the time being?
Make sure your running the latest nVidia drivers as well.
Also, can you ensure that Eve is only running on one CPU for the time being too? Until we can try and figure out what's causing the problem.
(alt+ctrl+del to get task manager, click the processes tab, right click on evefile.exe I believe and then set affinity to just one of the CPU's listed)
The only thing I can tell from the log file is that the crash occurs when you go into warp, which is vague in its own but could be related to a cpu or graphics issue.
I'm going to take a look on the forums and see if I can try to find anything that can help. In the meantime if you can try either of the above and post back your results. I'm leaning towards SLI as being the problem but I can't verify that for sure. ----------------------------------------------- Hard work MAY pay off later, but procrastination always pays off now! |

Latest crash log using the new texture file I downloaded. I'll try using one cpu and see what happens. If it crashes again I'll post the new log and then try dropping to one g-card. Its not like eve uses the second one anyways :P And thank you for your help :)

Clicked jump while at a gate. Sigh. CCP if there is anymore information I can give you all to help keep me running stable, don't hesitate to comment or suggest. Thanks.

Dang, I thought one of those might have solved the problem. Out of curiosity, what type of ram do you have, how much ram and are you overclocking your system at all?
I was playing with my system last night and was crashing randomly until I clocked back to stock speeds, maybe I'll try overclocking and run log server to see what errors I was getting.
You're crashes are occuring in a number of different ways, so I think there's something else behind the issue. ----------------------------------------------- Hard work MAY pay off later, but procrastination always pays off now! |

no overclocking to the best of my knowledge unless alienware decided to overclock it prior to sending it to me. how would i check that?
2 gigs ram

You can try intel's processor identification here Linkage
To make sure your cpu is running at its correct speed. Although I'm not positive I think it may be the front speed bus but I'll have to look into it a bit before I can draw conclusions. ----------------------------------------------- Hard work MAY pay off later, but procrastination always pays off now! |

Hello,
I have the same exact problem random "desktop" exit from the game... Either when I dock from the station or go to warp. I too have two nvidia 7800 GTX in SLI and AMD Dual Core processor with 4Gb Memory. And have tried disabling SLI but the game still exits to the "desktop". I have updated all my drivers that i could think of to the latest version just yesterday and this did not help...

Just noticed something about most of these complaints (mine included in the other thread, most of these rigs seem to be high spec (or even uber)). I cant see that causing a problem really, but ...
Anyone out there running on an older machine and having these problems ? I think I'll try installing on my other machine (Dual P3 700's and a 5200) and see if that machine has the same problems ?

Try reading this, theres alot of info, but ultimately, the only fix that cured this prob on my machine was disabling one of the cpu's in boot.ini
Hope it helps, happy reading
