This is just a suggestion for now, having sold the same item twice on auction in the sell forum I have twice failed to complete the sale due to idiots placing bids and not buying. I am proposing a thread (not entirely sure how the mods will view this) to NAME & SHAME these and others in order for people to hopefully avoid this problem.
Comments please?

Is'nt why it's an auction? You just deal with the second best offer, then the other one, etc... unless you are a reserve kind of guy, then you are helpless.
Contracts should fix all that, game mechanic will take care of all the dealing and with luck, if a player create an auction for an item and end up with the same item back within a week because he used an alt, second account or friends to bet more, the account is automatically banned for life. |

And if its allready taken a week or so to chase up and finally realise they aren't going to buy it, the second/third person on the auction is probably not interested/have the money any more. I don't see how the new contracts system is likely to fix this as auctions are out of game and so highly unlikely to make any differance. At least when using the likes of Ebay, even if people don't buy whatever your selling you can give them negative feedback to at least warn others, and this is basically what I want.

lol, pretty easy my man, if the auction ends the items get bought automatically. :) I don't see any problem with the new system, piece of cake. The difference with EBAY is that ebay has no access to the account of the buyers. -----------------------
This signature got altered because it was way to sexy and uber. If you want to know why don't ask. We're still horny. |

Well, maybe, maybe not, I mean, with auction lasting a few day, just put your escrow for 1 day, then you contact the second one...

Because if there is auction in game, they will use it (including you) to prevent exactly the trouble you had in the original post. It's like the good old trading window, would you want to trade in space by using the jettison option and transfer money? Everyone will soon use the system that protect them.
The isk will probably be put on escrow too for the time of the auction to not have an alt at -100 mil wallet. No more secret ingame buyout just when it get interesting. The seller cannot just do a price check and waste everyone's time because the item is now trapped in the system.
Nothing prevent him to buy it back thou, only problem I have with auctions.

Not really, on Ebay, the sellers (merchants) are using unformal alliances and as soon as a customer is ****ed off, they tell him that if he put a bad rating to them, they will blow his rating away.
And they do it. So the customer cannot buy anymore as other merchants will not trust him.
Guess who is giving outstanding rating to this merchant? The other merchants in the alliances... What a corrupt system. |

I have never had this problem, but then again I hardly ever run auctions. What were you trying to sell?

Edited by: pegasus9 on 17/05/2006 20:14:16 I have run auction on a fairly regular basis, but it does however happen on a fairly regular basis. The fact that I have just run the same auction twice and twice had buyers just not bother really wound me up. Hence this thread.
