just wondered if anyone had mario kart DS and wanted to get a spanking at it. itd be nice to play someone other than snaking chinese people all day.

I have one and Mario Kart but unfortunatley you'll be the one getting spanked . You would absolutely destroy me i'm what some people call "noob" Good game though how far you through it? Also the new Metroid has online but the controls are hard to get used to

Yeah I know what you mean.

im not really "far" through it. i did a couple of levels of missions and just played online all day. my wifi was a ***** to setup so when i finally *****ed it, it was more of a novelty.
i REALLY dont get why they didnt make Bomberman online and not just device-to-device. hopefully warp-pipe will make an NDS version so i can spank people at that as well.
and if you actually do want a game, eve-mail me your friend code and we'll see who gets spanked.

my missus has had one for the last year, shes totally obsessed with it LOL, and it is unit-unit if you so wish, but yeah, being able to play with you mates on-line is a neat feature for a hand-held console. ---- Join Us

Hells yes, Nintendo ftw. Once my exams are over I'm going to buy all these new games that I've been desperately avoiding and just play the crap out of them, but unfortunately until then (about 1 month from now) I can't really touch them.
I might have to ask some of you guys to help me with getting the wifi thing to work once I'm back properly because I don't really understand it.

I love the fact that the DS plays both GBA and DS games. Basically I have two whole console libraries available to me at once.
Currently enjoying the crap out of Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones, though I need to get some of the WiFi-enabled games here soon. -------------- What good are actions if there's no one to tell the tale afterward?

Edited by: FooB2 on 16/05/2006 23:12:37 as for helping you get wifi working, im a full-on networking student. ill more than likely be able to tell you how to do the whole thing, via manual settings incase you have to (like mine did) and as a preliminary statement, ill let you know the DS will work with a wireless router, and not just the official nintendo-branded wifi USB stick that you can buy. although thats the option for those who dont have a wireless rotuer (although, for the price of the USB stick you could get a wireless router, which would really be more useful anyway. plus the signals are stronger on routers increasing playing distance from the access point).
as for friend codes, i only have mario kart DS at the moment. but eve-mail me them over and ill return the favour. i do however plan to get animal crossing in the future.
make note i live in the uk, s ill be playing on UK time (obviously)
*EDIT* yes, playing GBA games on dual-functionality is awesome. i bought final fantasy Tactics advance before i actually bought any official DS format games. (if you dont count mario kart that came packaged). plus all the good traditional-style GBA RPGs (such as Golden Sun etc) are starting to drop in price a bit. which is only a bonus.

I'm thinking of getting a PSP or a DS. Got 2 mates here who have PSPs and I have had a go on them playing GTA. It's quite fun although the "joystick" on the bottom left is complete poo. I have not had hands on experience with the DS yet. I do have a GBA SP which I play every now and then. Advance Wars 4tw!

You'll love Advance Wars DS. There's a very nice use of the second screen to have a second (but linked) battlefield. ---- "Well in this case, he's being flamed, and rightly so, for whinning about a game mechanic that doesn't actually exist." -Lorth |

You mean that you can play ONLINE with that thingie? Whoa, I might actually try to find it from my messy apartment and try to give it another look for that part

I own a DS and mario kart aswell, mostly play offline because the online players use explaits and its rarely ever down to skill unless you can force a map thats immune from the cheaters ^^

I have not got one yet but my oldest daughter (6) is obsessed with the Pokemon advert thats on TV at the moment. She even sits pretending to play the game imagining moving the lines up, down, and across with her finger. When the advert comes on her eyes fill up in anticipation. Maybe I will get it for 'her' at Christmas.

kinda why i posted here, to play with sime of my "own kind" and not a bunch of chinese snakers.
and you didnt know the DS could play online? it can, if you have wireless internet, and if you dont, you can buy the nintendo USB adapter to do it with, but as i said for the price of the adapter you could get a wireless outer which would just be more useful. DS can also be used as a media player, you have to get an adapter which goes into the GBA slot.
and for the dude who wondered about DS games, the touch screen ones are FAR better than PSP. take a look at "Trauma Center" when you get a chance. you actually use the touchscreen with the stylus to perform operations on people.
and comparing the DS and PSP, the PSP has more games, the DS has better games, and better online funcionality (im not sure if the PSP goes online at all, just unit-to-unit wifi). touch screen games are far more interesting and are a brand new genre, plus you have dual-functionality with the GameBoy advance so you can get all the traditional GBA RPGs whih we all love so much (well i do anyway).
and aside from that, its over ú100 cheaper. i bought my DS on monday for ú95 which included Mario Kart DS. you can get then for ú65 standalone in GAME (which i noticed after i bought mine :\) and i HIGHLY suggest getting mario kart online and whatever you need to wifi it. there are a lot of major cities with wifi coverage which lets DS' in for free. in Newcastle where i live, we have the mycloud coverage, which lets me play mario kart online in my uni lectures.

Ok heres a question to the forum mods, i know sharing of personal information is not allowed but when you use mario kart it generates a friend code that you have to share with other users to be able to find them online, this can't be used to find or identify you and its just a series of numbers and letters, would they object to us DS users sharing our friend codes with each other so we can play it online together, if not i can just mail people when iget home :)

Edited by: FooB2 on 17/05/2006 11:36:36 its just a number assigned to your particular game-cartridge. it automatically generates it for you when you first setup wifi and you have to go through no "registration" process whatsoever. also, Friend codes only work when we each input each others. so for to see you online, youd have to put mine in and i would have to put yours in. plus its only numbers, not letters.
all they are is so when you select your region of gameplay (worldwide, continental etc) you can just select friends and you're gauranteed to play with them.
it doesnt identify you in any way. at all.

PSP does have Wifi including an internet browser. It's nice that it can play videos, music and whatnot. I still don't know. A lot of my friends don't like Nintendo games saying they are "kiddy" and "graphics are poo." Good graphics does not make a good game imo.
However having the full GBA library be playable gives a good strong point for the DS. However in many shops I go there are not many DS or 'Cube games which annoys me.

graphics are not "poo" in any way on the DS. theyre actually quite impressive. plus the PSP rareley puts out 60fps on games. (things like NFS play at about 30) but the DS 60fps all the way. and the DS can be a video/music player, maybe not UMD but PC format movies. you just need the adapter. (said adapter also plays *AHEM* backed up games, hint hint.)
and as for game selection, shops dont really carry as much as the PSP, but if you're buying games i suggest play.com anyway, for whatever format. personally my local has always been the best and always will be the best for prices, some games ive gotten for ú2 (Call of Duty to name one). theyre so good that they started as a stall in the market and now theyre currently have about 20 shops nationwide. check the shop listing and if yo have one within a reasonable distance, i suggest you go there. of course this is assuming you're from the UK.

IMO both DS and PSP have good graphics and gameplay in there own way as the ds has games u can get into and play fast where as the psp has a few games that require more time to get into and play(good for long trips). Not heard of the adapter for ds to play stuff from but psp does have as standard. ------------------------------------ Booga
