Hi everyone,
in the variation section of modules I often see high end module variants named Gist and Pith (besides Officer variants, but those are clearly ultra rare). Where can those modules be found, especially any of the high end shield hardener and booster stuff ? From conversations in open channels I get hints that complexes above a certain level may be the places to go (and if its there, which ships drop it ?).
Have fun

Pith X-Types probably wont be available till the new regions open up. Guristas have no high end complexes.

Pith B can be bought from escrow, these are probably officer drops. The prices are a bit silly but are still bought. Be prepared to dish aprox 300mil for a Pith B-type XL booster. ------------------------------------------------- AWM Corp is Recruiting

they drop from the high level plexes of their factions. Gist is angel, pith is guristas.
8/10s drop B-type 10/10s drop X-type.
There is currently no guristas 10/10, meaning no pith x-type exists

Edited by: Rod Blaine on 17/05/2006 08:08:54 Ok, let's expain things more fully.
All Pith, Gist, Core, Corp, -and whatever the sansha variant is called again-, drop from complexes ONLY. Not from officerse, officers drop "enternamehere"'s modified "entermodulehere".
Now what to find where ? Theoretically the model looks like this:
1/10: small c-type 2/10: small b-type 3/10: small a-type 4/10: medium c-type 5/10: medium b-type 6/10: medium a-type 7/10: large c-type 8/10: large b-type 9/10: large a-type 10/10:large x-type
There are no small or medium X-type modules.
Now, this is the general model, it's just not actually liek this in practice because CCP has still not fixed the loot tables correctly.
For example, serpentis 3/10's might drop small a-type mods, but it's generally the wrong kind. The should drop core mods but drop gistii mods. As far as I'm aware the same goes for all the 4/10's.
What I know is out there is the following:
Core X-type stuff Pithum B-type large stuff Corpum medium A-type stuff That sansha variant whatever it was in large X-type as well as medium A-type Gist small C-type, small A-type, lareg C-type and large X-type. I;m not sure about lareg A-type but seeing the 9/10 gisti plexes out there it should be somewhere.
Now, I;m not entirely sure about the last part (what being actually ingame), but it covers most of it. Most of the factions don't have complexes of each size category yet, let alone having at least one of each rating. Gisti-Angel complexes are the exception, since just about every rating of gist complex seems to exist already.

thx to all, especially Rod.
Well, seems like I will be heading out to 0.0 space for those high end complexes and most definitely will need a gang for that (soloing L4 missions is well and fine, but 8/10 complexes dont sound like they can be soloed or farmed with a single BS).
Merci and Have fun

Whoever owns the space those plexes are in will not be pleased to see you. Also, FYI, the 8/10 guristas has been soloed in an ishtar

If they are not pleased to see me then I will have to either come to an agreement with them so they ARE pleased to see me or will have to make em see my point (usually on the tip of a precision wrath cruise missile). Preferably the former.

Yes, when necessary.
Not much profit in PvP, as pure PvP players rarely field high end (better than T2) stuff so looting their debris is usually disappointing.

Actually, high end complexes are the most valued peices of resource in Eve.
A couple of missiles won;t be enough to make your argument I'm afraid
You can find 8/10 gurista complexes in upper venal, lower tenal and in lower deklein tho, go nuts on them They're way too easy as is anyway.

Expect to be hunted and killed by quite a large number of people if you want to run their plex wihtout sorting it out first. I'd advise talking to the local alliances.

That is what I plan to do. First I have to find out who is the king of the hill there. Does anyone have info on who is operating near one of these complexes (see below) and considers them to be their territory ? Or knows of any groups specifically doing complex runs and open for recruiting.

I was thinking more in terms of several BS, HACs and interceptors plus cargo support. With a cloaker for scouting. Avoiding most gate camps with instajumps, blasting those using warp bubbles with the team. Coordination with teamspeak.

then consider that you are taking on alliances who do the same stuff regularly but in much greater numbers. -

Edited by: Ian Novarider on 17/05/2006 15:04:55 True. Thats why talking with them is my primary option. But first I need to know whom to talk to. In game map set to show controlled territories is not much help here.
However - if talking is not possible: its like using a special forces team - fast in, fast out, hit hard, very specific objectives. I wont be there to challenge them for territory. I wont be there to fight them. There is no profit in that. For all I care they can spraypaint their logo all over the complex. I need some things that can only be found there. So I will go there. When I am done, I will leave.
I checked escrow - offers for large and XLarge modules are sparse and prices are high (hundreds of millions). As long as such modules cost more than twice the cost of a new clone + complete set of (lets say +3) implants + a battleship insurance + T2 modules .. then the risk is worth it.
Have fun
Ian
PS: Greater numbers are not much help if you cannot concentrate them fast enough in a certain area. Observing reaction times with a lemming toon helps with that. Also the bulk of "greater numbers" are usually made of moderate quality troops which can take on special forces, but will pay a high price for doing so. Yes, there will be some PvP gods out there and if they come we have to scoot. But the mayority of the "greater numbers" tend to die quickly, especially when they are in kamikaze moods. In any MMORPG, not matter if its fantasy or sci fi. Its also a good tactic to follow the principle of "you cannot hit what you cannot see" (Multiple prepared safe spots etc., carefully chosen time to run the complex) Takes time to find someone with scans in his safe spot.

I wasn¦t talking about 100 man blobs. I meant that in any alliance of ca 1000+ there¦s generally at least 10+ experienced but bored pvpers ratting. If they hear that there¦s a hostile gang incoming chances are they¦ll jump.
If you want info on deals for access to alliance space complexes I suggest making a post in the Corps and Alliances forum outlining your interest. I doubt it will be for free but some alliances allow that stuff. -

gl, most plexes are farmed to hell as it is...
And mostly done after DT immediately etc, and there are Dreads/Carriers used for them.
