Originally by: GOLDEN LAMB Hi,
it took me like over a year (oups, yes its an alt, too lazy to change and doesnt really matters anyway) to notice this interessting forum, even when i earned most of my cash by trading/hauling. Main reason is, that i never thought a Eve Bank System / Bond Market will work due to the lack of a contract system, hence no way to monitor or even enforce your rights. In RL financial markets and intermediaries are under strict regulations, closly monitored and bound into a complex law system. Even then its still open to frauds.
So, why and how is this working w/o contract system atm??? Is this all about trust and reputation or do i miss something out? Just take 1% of the moral attitude in the Crime & Punishment Forum and you just see sooo many ways to get scammed.
Im aware that the answer might be hidden in the depths of this forum, but as im allready keep a close eye on 4 other forums, there is just no time (need some play time as well to earn the isk i might want to throw at you).
Cheers
P.S. I dont want to flame you guess running banks and bond market, think its great stuff and makes the market a serious alternative to blowing up things . Just dont feel like loading my freighter up with isk for you atm.
Currently there is no way to guarantee that any corporation/bank/fund you put your isk into is legitimate.
Your assessment is correct, its a matter of trust.
The contract systems that are due to be released in the new expansion should go some way to erradicate some problems there have been, but the sad fact is, nothing will ever be 100% safe as to the nature of this game.
There is always the threat that someone you give your isk to will simply transfer the isk to another of his hidden characters and delete the old one, leaving no trail to follow for reimbursement.
The only comfort is that those who frequent this forum who are using their main character to back any IPOs have trust in its performance & ability and usually have proven judgement in such matters.
Not naming names, but there are people who frequent this forum and I find their input and analysis to be a major factor in wether to invest in IPOs or not, or indeed any other financial opportunity.
I believe reputation is paramount, and like me, I dont think they would back anything that they didnt have faith in.
But all in all, thats what the investment game is all about.
Risks versus Gains. You have just got to make your own judgement.
If you cant afford to lose your investment, then dont invest.
