Hey all, I have messed around with various character planners and Im frustrated because I want to plan a character from the ground up (without the damn xml data) I know there is the evetool from wium.net, but it seems to be broken with some things.
Now, I've downloaded EVEMon, and while its great for planning out characters that you have already created, I can't seem to figure out how to just start a new character profile from scratch...is there a way to do this in EVEMon?

Have you tried EVE Master Datasheet yet? If you want to play with a character creation tool go to the PORTAL sheet and 'show' Character Creation Tool sheet.
I know there is a web-site with a similar tool too...

Well, I havn't tried it because I don't have excell 
I really do need to get a copy, but its so damn expensive

Get OpenOffice, it's freeware and the OpenOffice Calc spreadsheet can open Excel files

Why not just edit the xml to reflect the starting stats you want then import it to eveMon or one of the others?
EDIT: Misunderstood the initial post... I used http://www.wium.net/nw/evetool/ for my alt and all worked out exactly as they said it would.. what do you perceive as broken? They also offer the base data at http://www.wium.net/nw/evetool/evedata.php
so you could use the info there to come up with a plan then edit the XML for use in a skills planner...

New char always creates an invalid character for me.
