Why doesnt CCP make another server which:
-Everyone starts out with 0 SP
-Server runs only for 6 months
-Goal is to take sov
-Winners get a prize on their main eve accounts.
This would be pretty cool because everyone would have a fresh slate, so goons wouldnt necessarily be in power. And those coalitions too far for the goons to care about can now choose to go towards them since nothing has been laid out.

I stocked up on popcorn this week just for a thread like this one.
The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the ho's and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' and I'll look down, and whisper 'Hodor'. |

so in other words you want people to waste 6 months of time not playing the actual game so that all thier accomplisments on this new server go away and all they get is a prize on the regular server? |

This would require people to wait until they get caps to actually destroy POSes and TCUs dropped by the first coalition to get to null, so you would have a couple of months of more or less uncontested control, and then by that time whoever got to null first would be producing caps, and would hold the advantage. I think I read something like that happened on Serenity when they stated it up. In addition, the goons (and other large coalitions) would already hold a significant advantage in manpower and command chains. I'm not really sure this would completely favor the large alliances, but there is certainly a decent possibility. Enemies are just friends who stab you in the front.

The people who have the most out-of-game organization will easily establish supremacy through sheer force of numbers. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective.

Balance it out so it can work. You are always going to have the same super powers in the main server, atleast this you get some randomness. |

problem is - the current superpowers have the command chains and logistics, that they can very quickly organise things for the new server, whilst everyone else is grinding the isk for their first iHUB - goons/CFC/ RUS/PL/N3. will have put together their isk and bought both the freighter and iHUB on one char - enough to get them started - this would just put more sov in the hands of the biggest alliances. For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be. |

But how would you keep groups like the Ditanian Fleet from hogging all of the sites to the point of possibly war dec'n the logis of non TDF fleets so that no one other than their group would be able to run the sites?
I am all for your idea it sounds really fun.
I would limit it to ship size and total number of ships allowed in at a time.
Frigate - five frigates or destroyers Cruisers - five cruisers BC - five Battlecruisers BS - five battleships
When the total number of ships had entered the staging area the staging area would lock and not allow any more ships to enter.
From the entry point you have a certain amount of time to destroy as many POS structures as you can. Each POS structure would be based on the ship size so for a frigate a POS Tower would have 3000 hit points, cruiser 4500 and so forth.
The only idea that is wasted is the one never spoke about.

i think most here seem to forget that if a new server starts from scratch it will take at least 2 weeks before any alliance can take sov for the simple reason that there are no freighters available on the server they would have to build one from scratch and a freighter construction takes at least 2 weeks not to mention that you need cap ship construction 1 and a lot of raw materials to mine with not much else but noobships
i don't see many sov taken in 6 months :D
and don't forget PI materials to build sov structures POS structures and ammo :D
most current superpowers don't have much experience with massive base industry ops they know how to command massive fleets but i don't know any alliance on TQ that would get far in SOV while starting from scratch with industry
and don't forget that TQ is still there and they would have to divide their time between 2 servers else they might lose big on TQ while on the new server
just my thoughts on the idea tho so i might be wrong but i know current TQ tactics for running a big alliance would not work there unless near the end after the industrial backbone of the alliance was set up
ps don't forget no T2 stuff any time soon either |
