Why is Seniority in Eve online not rewarded? . I've been playing other MMO's from 2003 and they give yearly rewards, such as, discounts on subscriptions, special previews and free game time for a hole month yearly or every two years. Other Online Games do this for there players, Why not CCP? .. I've been here from 2003, and yet i haven't seen anything giving back to senior players. I believe CCP should bend a little to the loyal eve-online senior players ..

Cause here, your rewardis in teh gameplay.
If you need rewards from ccp to keep playing they did something wrong with the game.

Well technically speaking they do. Whenever new stuff is introduced it is often only those that have been around for a while that get access to it first.
Well...yeah...okay not quite what you were shooting for....
Playing since beta ftw!!!

Here you constantly get better. In other MMOs, you cap out, and need other incentives to carry on.

its cool to be recognized as a loyal player. But such rewards have to - if introduced - be worthless in terms of gameplay. otherwice it will open up a HUGE can of worms. It can create bad blood in the game. It can create jealousy, Game unstability etc etc etc.
TBH. I cant see any way of CCP to introduce a veteran reward to this game without creating more problems. SOE did in SWG introduce certain items that created lot of problems. It was a very good item everyone wanted, but it was also the core of lots of problem. It was an Anti decay kit that made the item you applied it on not to decay, like in combat. Weapons for example. So rich people where massing those items and applied it to their all unique weapons. Like Lightsabers. or clothings that did not decay anymore. Clothings that where fitted with lots of Skill Mods. So the poor sold their anti decay kit since they needed the money badly, and the rich got more powerful. SOE removed it in the end, and made all items not to decay.
Theres more examples. But one thing is clear: its best to keep those veteran perks if introduced on the harmless and worthless kind. The only value should be to prove the players seniority in the game, so they can brag about it. Maybe like titles under the character name on the forums....?
New player: Noobie 1-2 month: rookie 3-4 month: pod pilot 4 year: Titan pilot
etc
But anything besides such things, should be evaluated VERY CAREFULLY before introducing, seeing how much problem this can potentially create

I like the current "rewards through gameplay". For example if I wanted to fly a carrier, I'd have to play for about 200 days more to get the skills for it and as a reward for staying with EVE for that long I'd be able to fly a carrier. Sounds fair to me.
Plus we all did get Snowball MMV's and Snowball Launchers as a christmas present so I think that what CCP is currently doing reward-wise is the very right thing :) ________________________________________________ My signature exploded :/ |

Well, seeing I will most likely need one before I can fly my ship of all dreams - the Nyx - this would be greatly appreciated

Seems to me those neato SnoBall launchers were pretty darned rewarding...don't do A THING for you unless you like taking screenshots of your kestrel plastering Concord ships. Rewards should be used but not impact the gameplay...and CCP nailed it when they gave those out.

I really wanted to find a birthday cone hat for Xailia's 3rd b-day in my hanger... but alas, it was not to be.
Anyway, I'm sure there are going to be some more nice event and general prizes to give out, and I think seniority is enough of a reward - people always gasp and give praise when I tell them I have 5.7 million SP in learning or similar things (I hang out in a 0.3 system)
It's enough for me.

seniority is in terms of SP and likely the isk and experience you've built up - that is invaluable against the new players

That's a game mechanic :) A reward would be something like a customised skin for your ship(s) that you have to claim from an NPC corp and build

Rebate on clones would be nice. Or insurance on them. Those youngsters have to pay spare change for them anyway. |

Rewards need not be anything that could upset gameplay. SWG also gave out portraits of space ships as a reward which unlike the anti-decay units did nothing to upset gameplay.
Maybe we could get different coloured ships with colour denoting seniority, or the chance to alter our character portrait for free, or a medal perhaps? Something that wouldn't effect gameplay but make the veterans stick out.

Edited by: R3dSh1ft on 19/05/2006 09:19:32 The fact some people seem not to understand is the op is saying senior players get something that other players Do Not.
Maybe piloting a titan is not available to new players but its still a part of the game that is open to anybody.
And faction ships are open for all as well. Personally I'd like that little Tech 2 overlay on my portrait at year 3 :D ______________________________________

How about a frigate? somthing inbetween tech I and Tech II? Like the guardian Vex but a frigate? One for each race, given only to active accounts that has been with Eve-online for over two years. I say two years cause the average age of players is 7 months.

I cant believe this is being discussed in a serious manner. Its like, for every day, you sit in front of your computer trying to think up some random whine you can post and get attention.
I dont mean to offend the OP, but this has to stop. Seriously. Your next post should be something positive about the game. Please.
