sometimes I forget how awful the new font is compared to the old ones, then I look at font_comparison.jpg and remember.

Seriously, I just want to know why CCP changed the font in the first place...where there ever any complaints about the OLD font?

EDIT: I read up on Kali in wikipedia, here, and it seems that Kali, in mythological terms, breaths new life into Shiva (haha) and makes it a living person, or something.
this makes it so obvious now that you have fount what Kali and Shiva mean. If you think about it Kali is new life and when this enters a 'dead body' which in Eve terms, the game itself it which create new life and somthing like taht..... basicly Kali is when the game gets new code updateing/re writing the trinity code
either that is right or someone can prove me wrong

I'm not entirely sure, but I think it had something to do with the unicode stuff, they needed a font that worked for all or something. But as I said, I don't know for sure, so don't quote me.

I think they will first spell the name backwards for some new life and call it 'eve'.
As for the content in the patch, everything will make it besides any stuff related to R&D or manu, still, there will be plenty of things to shoot and shoot them with so who gives a monkey?

Kali was a good name because it went with Shiva (Shiva is Kali's husband) but then Shiva was changed to Exodus...

In software development it goes like this
Codebase::Minor Revision::Build Number
Eve's release version was 1.01.0934 this was Gemini.
The shiva codebranch starts is 2.xx.xxxx because thats a major revision of the code.
And it is most likely that the first installment of 'The path to Kali' will be 3.01.xxxx, making that the 3rd version of EVE, regardless of content updates which are considered Minor Revisions (castor, cold war, RMR ect..)

exactly, they could have easily still used the old one and worked with it to make it unicode, sure its a good bit of work, but it would have saved them 6 months of OMFG U SUCK, THE FONTS SUCK, FREE STUFF IM OUTTA HERE posts that we've all become accustomed to.
But at the same time, i can see it from CCP's point of view, best to use an existing unicode font instead of doing all that work from scratch, cos before, CCP used a bitmap font rendering system, like most games do, but switched over to FreeType 2 for font rendering, a significant feature and awesome to have in game, FT2 is a great project, but the font they picked to use with it.. kinda sucks :(

Archon is greek for ruler, the Gnostic meaning has "The Archon's" as servants of the Demiurge, the God who created the earth but who was unworthy of praise. In this role they are more like elementals than angels, so i think that the Amarr would have meant Archon as "Man with Big Hat", rather than refering to heretical beliefs.
