If you are mining that hardcore, get the hell out of 1.0 systems. When you are in 0.4 systems you don't need secure containers, cuz you can blast ore thieves into tomorrow. Or you won't need to, cuz ore thieves don't go to 0.4 systems.

Ok, the problem really is baby roids, if this was not the issue this is how you can proceed with the OP.

1) two industrials haul 20-25 Giant containers(4-6 trips).
2) Anchor containers at key locations
3) Return to base
4) Grab UBER mining vessel (apoc)
5) go to belt
6) Mine your ass off until all containers are full and holds of mining bessels.
7) Return to base.
8) grab UBER indy (iteron MK V or Bestower)
9) brign all secure cans back, (you gain an additional 20% cargo this way, making up for the complexity of the OP)

NOW: I know doing these 9 steps is SOOO complicated since you are used to watchign movies while you mine or playing CS in the background, but to me it just makes mining more balanced.

i doubt most of the people throwing these half-assed comments around have never even tried to mine with secure cans Rolling Eyes

have you ever tried this? yea, its a little more complicated ... big deal. i need to pay constant attention anyway as mining in a thorax with a cargo that fills up in under 1 minute doesnt let medo nifty things like you mentioned. however, what IS the problem is that would take a huge chunk out of profits.

as for you cao cao, your probably right, save for the fact that im contracted to a corp there. so unless i want to spend 1 day hauling for every day mining, i need to mine in high sec regions.

dont get me wrong, im not trying to mine in luminaire etc. i usually try to pick a little-visited system 1 or 2 jumps away from the corp im currently contracted to and mine there.

In order to use secure cans effectively you would need several cans (more then several, usually. try about 20 of them.) This is unfeasable when they cost around 150k.

Secure containers are reusable. You don't have to buy 3m worth of containers every mining expedition.

Quote:

To use secure cans somebody has to haul full time. in my usual two-man group, that cuts profits by 50%.

In your usual "two-man group"? You mean yourself and your 2nd account, don't you? Ask me if I give a flip that you can't "Account *****" yourself to riches (on a rather boring part of the game too). On those occasion that the corp gets convinced to mine as a group, there's usually a full time hauler because nobody wants to get stuck hauling post-mining session +3h.

I have tried it.

Ps. Also, I would retort, but the above poster sums it up pretty well.

If your profession is no longer likable, change it. Hire some people to guard you while you mine BIST. Then you can talk profits.

ya know, we all get ****** at some time or another. It's how you learn things.

So your options are:
1. Suck it up and drive on. Buy the damn secure cans, mine the crap outta the asteroids and pack your profit home.
2. pay someone to fly CAP (combat air patrol - rat/pirate guard) and mine in peace.
3. mine in a friggin battleship.

as a noob, I do the first TWO, and pull down 10m ISK in hi-sec about 4 hours. I fly the miner and haul my own cans, and my cover keeps it all safe.

The next thing is to know what skills are availabe to you and put them to use.

"There needs to be a means in which we can defend our investments, secure can or no."

They're called guns. Buy some.

I won't rant at you about secure cans, I know they're not good at all for jet mining. But please, remember these three things:

1) Jet mining is an exploit-turned-feature. Your jet-mining ancestors had no right to be doing it, it was never intended. You were supposed to mine into your cargo, then drop off, rinse and repeat.
2) Your jet-miner ancestors whined about thier ore being stolen, just as you now whine about having an inefficient security for it. I direct you to section 1.
3) After much whining, CCP finally tried to shut your ancestors up by introducing can flagging. You have your security system, please don't whine for more or else I'll start whining for all sorts of things like removing sentry guns (which weren't there originally), boosting warp scramblers, boosting pirates, reimplementing the 0.1 security gain/day that they used to have, etc.

You have your method of stopping them/us.

Adapt and stop complaining.

Please.

I said please...
