If you can find a way to make a useful flattened map model, I say go for it (make it glow-in-the-dark :P)
But if not (I think too many systems overlap under most angles), then go for Iron Tide, or ship stats summary, or whatever.
But I think that including a removable insert with nicely done (graphically, thicker/laminated paper) region maps with each issue (1-3 regions each issue, it's not like EON is a weekly, and there is a lot of regions) would be totally awesome and also a cool collectible, while being very very useful at the same time. --

Map wouldn't really work, because you can't check system names or anything, and I can think of at least one area where the flattened map overlaps two regions, Syndicate and Outer Ring...

I vote for a useful map on the back side of the poster. The only trick is to legibly include as much information on it as possible (including the upcoming new regions). IĘd personally like all system/constellation/region names, the ss, NPC faction sovereignty, gate routes, etc.
The Iron Tide deserves a poster all it's own to be sold through the EVE store or some other medium.

"everyone knows that if the iron tide is put on the back, everyone will mount the poster on their wall... backwards. noone will even look at the other side."
Pretty much; it's way too amazing piece of work to put it anywhere but on front of poster dedicated especially for it ^^

Please dont put anything on the other side of the poster. Better make a second poster in EON #5.
I would like to see the Iron Tide as a very huge poster (DinA2 for example).

Yep, a map win's it for me, I am already a subscriber.
As I am due for renewal (as I think you only get 4 per subscription), a map would rock.... of couse it if there was no map I would still resubscribe, I love all the high quality art and pictures.
Of couse I am a Spaceship spotter and can often be seen with my notepad and thick glasses hanging around space docks, so pictures of rare ships is are welcome in the mag its self.

Edited by: Waragha on 22/05/2006 12:57:48 A map is damned stupid and not nearly as nice as iron tide. I dont want to have loads of connected dots on my wall and neither do you, now bow to the meridius poster or BURN IN FLAMES OF ANGUISH

Yes! A giant map of all the systems! That's what I want! And to scale too! 1:1! That would be awesome!
Iron Tide is awesome as well but I agree that it should be sold via EVE-store. I'd pay money for that awesome pic!
However, I am currently content with the current offer. I plan to hang it over my bed (yeah, so bye-bye David Hasselhoff poster.)

EON is a great high quality magazine. I picked one up at E3 along with a demo key, have been playing the game and will probably get a paid membership when the trial runs out. I love the print quality of the magazine and dang it that ink smells delicious.
Since I already have #3 and ordered #2, I'll subscribe when #4 is available... ----------------------------------------- Peaceful citizen of Gallente Federation.

How big is it going to be anyway? And is it going to be shipped rolled (Yay!) or folded (Boo!)?
Will a key be provided as well, to ID those ships we don't see often?
As for the back, if it's big enough, how about a seamless version of the 2d EVEMap?
Keep up the great work!

EON sounds nice... but looking at exchange rates, I'm not sure what the value of a standard magazine is in the states, but over here in the UK, something like the Warhammer White Dwarf magazine would cost me ś36 for a 1 year sub (12 issues)...using the current exchange rate that's ~$67.39.... so $55.95 for 4 issues of EON, no matter how much I'd love to subscribe seems a tad steep to me. So unless were talking the War & Peace of magazines here I think I have little option but to hunt the car boot sales of about 10 years time to get my copy.
If of course it is about an inch and a bit thick most of which is articles and not ads, then I'll go ahead and fork the cash out, but without being able to thumb a copy or see some pics of what the thing looks like in someone's hands, my cash is remaining firmly in my pocket.... no matter how much the new poster sounds like a deal maker (I really like the idea of a ship poster) I can't honestly validate the expense for a poster... no matter how much the poster rocks...
This is a sig...

Quote: On a slightly different note, as you may know we are planning to include a poster with EON#4 to all current subscribers, as well as to those starting a subscription with the next issue. On one side of the poster will be something like this. But what shall we put on the other side? A hi-res Mega? A naked Oveur eating grapes (tastefully done, of course). Or maybe a star map that you can hang on your wall and stick pins into? I would prefer a map myself (that's if it's do-able), but I'd like to know what you guys think. Comments welcome.
how about a front on or 3D POV of said ships? __________________________________

heres an idea....
a Skill Tree.
unlike a map, it could be sized to fit properly.... be... in a geeky weird sorta way, almost asthetically pleasing...
for skill collectors they could use highlighters or something to color the ones they have so far,
maybe have it out from the center, like the center being the absolute fundamental skills, ship command, gunnery, ect... then dividing out from that into the racial weapon types, ship types, ect... say 1 quadrant be weapons, 1 quadrant be ships, one quadrant be science and industry, the remaining quadrant be the support skills... maybe a division between weapons and ships(for asthetics and balance) for leadership and corp management.
maybe something like that could be done online too, and it could be a way of seeing how different skill sets and such looked or something.... maybe each skill section could have little dashed lines for each level, and you could fill it in each segment as you advance it.
I agree that putting Iron Tide on the back wouldn't do justice to it, where a skill tree like that, would be "subtle" enough that it could be neat for some, and the ship chart be better for others.

You can off course buy just one issue, but you won't get the poster. The poster will only be shipped to subscribers - that's all subscribers, irrespective of which issue you started you sub with.

Kaaii - this is obviously not something we can stop, nor would we necessarily want to. There is nothing to stop anyone selling their copy(ies) of E-ON. Indeed, in months or years to come, we may see more of the sold-out issues on the likes of eBay. Issue #001 is already sold out, and the demand is steadily increasing. Issue #002 is heading that way.
