It was lost and overlooked in the E3 rush, but Zapatero published a Dev Blog on the 8th about the forthcoming issue #4 of E-ON. In the blog is information about more advertising in E-ON, time frames, dates and a request for what you would like to see on the back of the E-ON subscriber bonus poster. What are you waiting for? Go take a look!

I feared that someone would propose this, and I fear that many people will like this.
Please. "The Iron Tide" is a masterpiece of unseen excellence, in no way it being on "the back side" of a regular poster would suffice to display it in all it's greatness.
"The Iron Tide" should be made availible as a high-quality, hi-res lfdp print via the eve store. Maybe even as outdoor poster version.
I think everything else would be too much of an understatement.

Would it be possible to have a color shifting map?
I.e: from one angle it would show the security status of every system, from another angle the sovigen., etc.

Yes! Great idea! I think Oveur would like that idea. On the other hand, EVE should get more female players, and I am not certain that would help to that goal.
I could think of Keiron in tight space leathers planting a flag on an unclaimed beautiful planet, maybe guarded by Eris, and a couple of Minmatar ships guarding space above, maybe shooting down a few Caldari slavers. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. Zapatero, there is no question in my mind that this should be what you publish. Also, any update on the EVE CCG? I still can't wait to get my hands on it. An article on, say, some of the artwork and/or ideaology behind some of the uber cards? Just a thought.

Oh crap, I need to get articles ready... I have two people working up a first draft of articles but Zapatero wants them done 10 days from now D:.
As for the poster, I think a star chart would be awesome but only of it's absolutely huge. I could put it on a chipwood board and nail it to my wall, then get coloured pins and stick them places with little notes and reminders and stuff.

ALL the ships stats on the other side....this would be more useful or, as mentioned, a map of the universe...
as for advertiseing...
what is your subcription numbers...as in when i have to pay 200 mill ISK (if I win the right to) how many magazines sell and what am I really getting for my bux in advertiseing?
in laymens terms...tell me how many copies sell and ill consider advertisieing...
thats the first question I ask any potential marketing source...as in the example of web advertiseing...show me the traffic or I dont care how much it is....

Edited by: Rosie Mountain on 20/05/2006 15:49:44 Let me preface by saying that the pic "Iron Tide" is amazing, and worthy of a poster all in itself.
I'm not entirely sure how useful a map would be (due to size limitations)- but it would be cool to be able to put pushpins on my traderoutes. But, then again, in the end I'll just have a poster full of holes.

If you can find a way to make a useful flattened map model, I say go for it (make it glow-in-the-dark :P)
But if not (I think too many systems overlap under most angles), then go for Iron Tide, or ship stats summary, or whatever.
But I think that including a removable insert with nicely done (graphically, thicker/laminated paper) region maps with each issue (1-3 regions each issue, it's not like EON is a weekly, and there is a lot of regions) would be totally awesome and also a cool collectible, while being very very useful at the same time. --

Map wouldn't really work, because you can't check system names or anything, and I can think of at least one area where the flattened map overlaps two regions, Syndicate and Outer Ring...

I vote for a useful map on the back side of the poster. The only trick is to legibly include as much information on it as possible (including the upcoming new regions). IÆd personally like all system/constellation/region names, the ss, NPC faction sovereignty, gate routes, etc.
The Iron Tide deserves a poster all it's own to be sold through the EVE store or some other medium.

EON sounds nice... but looking at exchange rates, I'm not sure what the value of a standard magazine is in the states, but over here in the UK, something like the Warhammer White Dwarf magazine would cost me ú36 for a 1 year sub (12 issues)...using the current exchange rate that's ~$67.39.... so $55.95 for 4 issues of EON, no matter how much I'd love to subscribe seems a tad steep to me. So unless were talking the War & Peace of magazines here I think I have little option but to hunt the car boot sales of about 10 years time to get my copy.
If of course it is about an inch and a bit thick most of which is articles and not ads, then I'll go ahead and fork the cash out, but without being able to thumb a copy or see some pics of what the thing looks like in someone's hands, my cash is remaining firmly in my pocket.... no matter how much the new poster sounds like a deal maker (I really like the idea of a ship poster) I can't honestly validate the expense for a poster... no matter how much the poster rocks...
This is a sig...

heres an idea....
a Skill Tree.
unlike a map, it could be sized to fit properly.... be... in a geeky weird sorta way, almost asthetically pleasing...
for skill collectors they could use highlighters or something to color the ones they have so far,
maybe have it out from the center, like the center being the absolute fundamental skills, ship command, gunnery, ect... then dividing out from that into the racial weapon types, ship types, ect... say 1 quadrant be weapons, 1 quadrant be ships, one quadrant be science and industry, the remaining quadrant be the support skills... maybe a division between weapons and ships(for asthetics and balance) for leadership and corp management.
maybe something like that could be done online too, and it could be a way of seeing how different skill sets and such looked or something.... maybe each skill section could have little dashed lines for each level, and you could fill it in each segment as you advance it.
I agree that putting Iron Tide on the back wouldn't do justice to it, where a skill tree like that, would be "subtle" enough that it could be neat for some, and the ship chart be better for others.

Kaaii - this is obviously not something we can stop, nor would we necessarily want to. There is nothing to stop anyone selling their copy(ies) of E-ON. Indeed, in months or years to come, we may see more of the sold-out issues on the likes of eBay. Issue #001 is already sold out, and the demand is steadily increasing. Issue #002 is heading that way.

Thanks. Yes, sent it to that address and received a read receipt. Possibly a email/spam filter nuked the reply.
I've emailed ads@.. again from another email address without spam filter.

One thing that I woud like to add here after many thumbings through #3 - such a high-quality magazine shouldn't have so many typos and errors. Especially for so unforgiving and math-heavy game as EvE. Some of these typos/errors are just annoying, and some outright silly, such as listing a Blackbird type hull for Rapier in illustrations for DigitalCommunist's article.
If editorial team is overworked and can't allow themselves in-house proofreading, I volunteer to proofread any article/illustration you send me fo that purpose (provided it's in English and sent at least 2 days before proofreading deadline in a non-exotic file format). If you need that, feel free to contact me ingame for an email address.

You can either log in on the E-ON page with your order and confirmation numbers and do it yourself, or send an email to eon@mmmpublishing and we will sort it for you.
